Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I keep getting a runtime error. Since it pops up no matter where I am ie...Mail internet, etc. I am thinking that a program in Internet explorer might be in conflict with another somewhere else. But I don't know. The internet cuts in and out and back in again. I am unable to enable user account. Just small niggling things that drive me batty. It tells me that I have accessed the internet from another source so it will have to shut down and it does. It is also running extremely slow. I hope you can help me. Please? Mary

When is the last time you ran AntiVirus and Malware scanners?
Your problem sounds like an infestation.
There may also be a program that was moved or deleted trying to run in the background. Every time it tries to start - you will get the runtime error.

Accept this answer and re-post another using the exact runtime error message for additional help. (if you are on the unlimited plan)

Thanks for using FixYa!!

    click START
    click RUN
    type in MSCONFIG
    Click ok

Under startup tab - make sure nothing but antivirus and/or malware software is checked.

The ones that are checked are all running (or attempting to run ) in the background.

    click OK
    then re-start.

When you restart - there will be a box that comes up and says you have just changed the startup blah...blah...blah.
Click the box, and then click OK

Keep getting a box popping up talking about script errors. how do we stop that?

If you use Internet Explorer as your Web browser, chances are you have experienced, or will experience, popup script errors. Typically, a dialog box may appear stating "A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug?" or "Internet Explorer Script Error. An error has occurred in the script on line 1. Do you wish to continue running scripts on this page?" These errors can be distracting and interfere with your Web browsing experience. If you would like to stop receiving these error messages, you must modify your IE settings.

Open IE, select "Tools" and ten choose "Internet Options." The Internet Options dialog box will open. Click on the "Advanced" tab, scroll to the "Browsing" section and then select the "Disable Script Debugging" box.

Clear the "Display a notification about every script error" box under the same section if it has been selected. Click "Apply" and then choose "OK" to modify your IE settings. You will receive no more IE script error notifications. Hope this helps.

Runtime Error! I can't use IE?

If you have IE7, click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS. Remove Windows Internet Explorer 7, reboot.

If you have IE6, click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS, ADD REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS, and uninstall IE (Internet Explorer). Reboot. Go back and reinstall IE. You may need the original XP CD. Borrow one from a friend if you can.

I get this error everytime I try and use IE I can't use IE it wont launch runtime error! program:c:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe this application has requested the runtime to...

you can try to re-install IE, go to control panel then open Add/Remove programs, on the left side of the Add/Remove programs applet click Add/Remove windows components, under Components look for internet explorer then uncheck it then click next, IE will now be uninstalled. Then reinstall it, just like previous process on Add/Remove windows components put a check on internet explorer then click next.

If this wont solve the problem, you can try a third party browser like firefox, download firefox on this site: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/, after downloading firefox just double-click it then just follow the installation.

Go to ControlPanel > Add Remove programs scroll down and select the Internet Explorer 7 beta X, then click on chage remove. If you are not able to see the item see at the top of the window and "tick" show updates. It will display the IE installation. Tell me if it worked else you will have to manually uninstal it.
