Someone entered a PIN, and you'll have re-enter it to use the GPS again. The only people that can unlock it is the person that entered the PIN and Garmin. You'll have to contact one or the other. Be prepared to provide "proof of purchase" when talking to Garmin - as they won't unlock it "just because".

Take the unit back to the exact location the pin was set in. You will then be able to enter the menu to change the pin. There is no other option even by resetting to factory defaults/ Final option is to send it to Garmin
Performing a reset will NOT reset the PIN. There are only three ways to unlock a PIN locked Garmin:
1 - Enter the correct PIN.
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was initially entered. This is the Security Location.
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin. If you are unable to provide proof of purchase to Garmin, however, they will NOT return the unit to you.
Wedll if this is not a stolen GPS Then the matter is simple. Take it back to the exact coordinates that you set the pin in. Then you will be able to access the pin setup and reset it to a new password. Your only other choice is to send it to Garmin, but if it has been listed as stolen, then expect the cops! No one forgets their pin or fails to remember the instructions for setting and recovering their pin.
Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it
does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most
Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or
password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to
bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “
A Master Reset WILL NOT reset the PIN. Your only options for unlocking a PIN locked Garmin are:
1 - Enter the correct PIN
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was originally entered
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin.
In order to reset the PIN and location, you must first enter the correct PIN (or take the unit to where the PIN was set) and unlock the unit. Then press the button on the bottom of the screen that looks like a wrench. Press the "System" icon, then press the button to the right of "Garmin Lock." Your choices should be "Off," "On," "Change PIN" and "Change Security Location."
