It does not matter which side it is on as long as hot is on one side and the neutral the other.

I need to know how to wire 110 to 220 on a hayward sp-1605-z1 pump motor

The Hayward superpump is factory set at 220.
If you need to convert it to 110, all you need to do is take a screwdriver and remove the cap on the back of the motor. There are three prongs in the motor and a black jumper. The jumper connection needs to be disconnected and moved from The top and middle postion prongs, to the middle and lower prong. The ground wire (green) still connects to the same spot (usually a green bolt grounding lug). If using a Haward SPX1250wa (110 Cord) connect it to the pump Black wire to black connector/White to white. The Hayward cord comes with pre-attached terminal connections that makes it easy to do.
Once the cap is re-attached you should be good to go.

Need wiring diagram for Hayward dual Super 2 speed pump. Old unit had 3 wires and new unit has 5 wires.

You need 4 wires to wire the 2 speed pump. You will also need a 2 speed time clock.. Tightwatt or intermatic. The wiring diagram is on the motor.

Wire Hayward Super Pump for 115

If you look closely, you should see a small arrow on the black plastic piece on the terminal block(jumper). That arrow lines up with either the 115 or 230 mark on the white terminal board. Make sure it is aligned with the 115.

Then put you two line wires on. It does not matter which wire goes to line 1 and line 2, just be sure you DO NOT put them both on the same terminal. A plastic divider usually seperates the two line connection terminals.
