You need to start with a pair of scissors and patience. Sit on the floor with the vacuum roller visible and accessible. Snip a string and pull it off. If the roller stops, cut string at that point. Try again. this is time consuming, but necessary. We borrowed a vacuum from a family that had four girls with long blond hair. We had to de-hair the roller before it would work sufficiently on our carpet. Once the hair was off, it worked GREAT! It was so wonderful that we went out and bought a Dyson of our own; now we don't have to remove long blonde hair from the roller to get it to work.

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. There are a couple of likely causes first check your washable filter once you remove the inner foam part and hold the white (well it would have been originally) part to the light you should be able to see light through the filter. If not you will need to get a new filter - Buy Here.
If your filter is okay check to see if your brushes are spinning. The brush roller bearings may have siezed making the brush essentially useless. Easy to replace just contact me with your model and I can help you get a new one! Happy Vacuuming
