With Swift Binoculars the serial number contains the year of manufacture eg No. 1-662 Blah blah. The first two digits after the dash being 66 indicate the year as 1966. If it doesn't have a dash such as the late model Audubon then it is the first two digits of the serial number. eg.. 0745 blah blah would indicate 2007. Try this with your scope.

USE ONLY the eyepiece with the largest number written on it-- take the scope outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant building or a telephone pole.

You will not find any manuals for that telescope. Contact a local Astronomy club and the members will help you assemble it and tell you what you have.

I have a swift 864R telescope but do not have an instruciton manual to assemble it? Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

No one will have a manual for that telescope. The manual will not tell you how to use the telescope EVEN if you had one. It is only assembly instructions.

Read my tips on my profile page and find a local Astronomy club. The members will help you with the telescope.

I have a swift astronomical telescope model no. 859 (no D). I need an owners manual and information on how to order parts. Mark J. Lanza

This is a 6 inch Dobsonian mounted reflector. They are VERY simple to assemble-- only two parts-- the base and the tube. The small finder scope goes on top. The eyepiece goes into the focuser. That's it.

No manuals exist for that brand but all of them assemble and are used in the same fashion. Here is a manual for an Orion brand Dobsonian just like your scope.

This is a small reflector style telescope on an EQ mount.

1. The mount must be polar aligned to Polaris

2. The scope may need to be collimated

Read my Equatorial mount TIP on my profile page that explains how to polar align.

and watch this video that explains collimation:

We do not have the "elbow" for our 1950's swift telescope model 888. We have to get down on our knees to look through the telescope. Is there an elbow or something that can connect the eyepiece so we don't...

If this is a normal refractor, yes. It's called a diagonal. Measure the hole, there are 3 sizes; .965, 1.25, and 2 inch.

Yours is probably .965 inch.

See these diagonals:

You will need to find a .965 inch if that is the size of the hole.
