You need to remove the control panel to get at the CCU. And from all accounts the CCU CAN be tested and/or repaired.

The ccu isnt behind the panel. The ccu is under the top of the washer. Who will be repairing this? This is a non- reparable part.

Washer stops beeps shows F 11

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F11 is a communication error between the central control unit (CCU) and the motor control unit (MCU). This usually occurs when CCU goes bad however, to check what has gone bad you’ll need to remove the top panel of the washer and also remove the rear panel to access the drive motor & MCU. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

What does code F70 and F71 mean on my whirlpool duet?

Error code F70 means no communication is detected from the Central Control Unit (CCU) to the User Interface while F71 is the reverse; no communication detected from the User Interface to the Central Control Unit (CCU). This could simply mean a loose or poor connection between the two communicating boards.

Disconnect power to the washer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Remove the three screws attaching the top panel to the rear of the washer then slide the panel rearward and lift it off the washer.

Disconnect the User Interface ribbon connector from the left side of the Central Control Unit (CCU) and clean the connector and terminals thoroughly. Reseat the connector several times to ensure a good connection between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the User Interface.

It is highly recommended to clean and reseat every wiring harness connector from the Central Control Unit (CCU) to prevent the same problem in the near future.

Reconnect every wiring harness to the CCU and make sure all connectors are firmly seated. Slide the top panel back into position and secure it to the rear of the washer with the screws previously removed.

Let us know if the problem persists for further assistance. We will be happy to resolve your problem.

F 14 error code on whirlpool duet washing maching. repair man say it needs ccu. How can I replace it and where can I purchase the part? Can this error code mean anything other than bad ccu?

Remove the bottom front panel 2-3 screws at the very bottom. Inside there should be a tech sheet that will explain error codes and how to trouble shoot them on your specific machine. Replacing the CCU is not that hard but getting to it is tricky. See following link to video on repairing duet http://www.rakerappliancerepair.com/ApplianceLibrary/Washers/WashersLibrary.aspx

Whirlpool duet washer flashing F-11

"F11" is a Serial Communications error. This is usually an indication of a failed Central Control Unit (CCU). This is the main computer for the washer and is located directly behind the wash tub. The wiring harness can also cause the error, but it is not a common problem. Typically, the CCU fails.

In order to access, you will need to remove the top panel of the washer. Ironically, searspartsdirect.com has the CCU listed for about $200. It's listed under the "Control Panel Parts" as item number 15 (part #8182695). Repairclinic.com carries the same part as item number 1776592 and lists it for around $162. This is a simple repair that the average Do-It-Yourselfer can accomplish on their own. If you wish to pursue the cheaper option, post back and let me know. I can give you additional advice on how to install a new CCU.

NOTE: Remove all the connectors from the CCU ONE AT A TIME and reconnect to see if the error code goes away BEFORE you decide to purchase a new one. It is not common, but sometimes a flaky connection can generate error codes.

See? You might have saved yourself about $200 just by reading this. I hope this helps you.

PS If you have a service plan or extended warranty this repair would be covered.
