My Avion dvd recorder model AV-DVR100 will not recognize any DVD's It will not recognize the dvd cleaning disc. Could it be hooked up wrong. Frank

It could be that the dirt on the lens is too bad. You might have to take the top off and clean the Lens with Servisol Video 40 or other lens cleaning fluid. However the lens can also be damaged by a tiny piece of grit hitting it a high speed. Only observation by a powerfull magnifying glass will confirm this.
Another problem could be damage to lens carriage unit, so it can't move to read the disc.

I have a yamaha dvd-c750. I have just created a slideshow using iphoto on a Mac, burnt to a TDK DVD +R. Inserted into the DVD drive. Machine tries to load it. Gives a message "unknown disc"? ...

DVD players can be picky with the type of file format that they use. According to an amazon.com review of this player, it does read DVD+RW/+Rs & DVD-RW/Rs so the problem probably resides in your file format.

The problem is probably the fact that the DVD Player does not recognize the file format of your Mac slide show. The computer recognizes this format, as it plays the slide show. The DVD player recognizes JPG file formats, which is the standard format of a picture.

If a DVD is made with JPG Files, not your slide show files, it will display thumbnails of each picture, allowing the choice of what picture to view.

If the slide show is a must, try to save it to a video file format, such as a *.mpg or *.avi which are common video file formats. These files would be movies of the slide show that you have made.

Wont recognize burned disk

Is the burned disk recognized in some other computer?

Is any "official" (purchased music CD, or purchased DVD video, or purchased Microsoft software) disk recognized when inserted into the device?

If you burn a disk on your computer, can your computer then read that burned disk?

Dvd player will not recognize disc;

Sometimes DRM is the problem.

The DVD might be mastered to play in one of several international zones and thus may be protected.

Contact HP and ask them how to watch your dvd.

Have you tried Nero? I want you to use the Power Cinema NE(Editor) its include in this package. Open the video file in the editor(Copy/Edit) Advance feature, you can do some editing if you wish and Produce. It will ask you what format will be the outcome(DVD Mpeg2). Once finished, this file is ready for burning. Burn it in Nero or Roxio as Data file since its already a DVD file. Hope it helps

Not recognizing the game

the laser lens that reads the disk is dirty, buy a dvd that comes with a little bottle of solution, this will clean the internal lens, other 2 possible reasons, the dvd disks/games are dirty or too many stratches, and or the dvd disk/game is damaged, you can buy a scratch remover kit from any local store. These are the simple most common problems seen with video games and dvd players.

Dvd videos

one thing is the lens could be ready to go out, I see it all the time on game systems. playing dvds makes the lens operate at a higher power than if it was to read a cd. Try using a good lens cleaner.

Not recognizing mini dvdrw

DVD-R discs can be used with no preparation, but a DVD-RW must be initialised before it can be used for the first time.

You may also have to initialise a DVD-RW if you get the message "UNABLE TO RECOGNIZE THE RECORDING MODE OF THE DISC" .

Also, make sure you always use DVD "minus" format discs - the DC210 will not work with any DVD "plus" format discs.

When you initialise the disc you will be asked to chose between Video mode and VR mode. Most DVD players will play a Video mode disc, but a VR mode disc can be edited with the camcorder. My preference is Video mode - I can then play on a DVD player and edit on a PC.

Don't forget to rate this solution once you've tried it !
