Well that could be a number of things if the car still truns over id more than likely say its a fuel problem it could be any number of fuel items from the fule pump to the injectors even a loose line some where if the car wont even turn over its a power problem which could be a dead battedry due to altenator failure a key switch or even the starter its self your best bet if you want ot diagnos this ya self is to go to your local auto parts storte adn buy a repair manuel for the car usually around $20 i have one myself and it has helped me countless times idetify and fix the problem

Chevrolet Cavalier 2004 quits running while driving down the highway.

need to check fuel pressure, not just listen for pump to run, also check reading on coolant temp sensor, but sounds like fuel pump /filter issue. just because you hear pump run doesnt mean its putting our right amount of pressure. also check for plugged catylic convertor

My husband's 2004 Cavalier stopped running at a red light. It wouldn't restart. He pushed it off the road and after work it wouldn't restart either. A friend told him about a fuel line reset...

its possible but it usually takes quite a bump or jar to set that off.
it helps to remember that a vehicle need 3 things to start
spark
fuel
air
spark is easy to see if your getting. have an assistant watch
remove one spark plug wire from the plug and lay the wire next to a metal nut or bolt on the engine
then crank the engine, the assistant should see a bright spark coming from the wire

fuel is easy but it takes the correct tool. buy or rent a fuel pressure tester. attach it to the fuel rail (where your fuel injectors are attached to) and check the pressure with the car on and the car off but the key on run (your local auto parts store can help you with finding the standard fuel pressure)

air is very easy, check your air filter. though I have never seen an air filter so dirty a vehicle wouldnt start,

finally if all those check out. either take it to a shop or check the timing belt yourself.
if your timing belt goes your vehicle would stop immediately and it wont restart till its replaced

My 2000 cavalier, 2.2L runs real smooth while driving on a road or street, but when stopped at a street light at idol it seems to run rough and the tach fluctuates. also seems to be getting poor fuel...

I would recommend getting a tune up first and see if that changes how it runs. Also change your fuel filter and air filter. If it doesn't change then it could be a vacuum hose that's off or broke. Also Buy some Techron fuel injector cleaner and dump it in your tank this will help clean your injectors.Since there is no mention of a check engine light being on then this should help.

I was driving my 2004 chevrolet cavalier it stop run and i can not trun it back on check gas line and no gas is coming up thou fuel line what can be wrong?

It sounds like you have a bad fuel pump, a bad fuse to the fuel system, or the cut-off switch was tripped to the fuel pump. Check you owner's manual to check the cut-off switch reset. If this doesn't fix the problem and you have replaced the fuse to the fuel system then you will most likely have to replace the fuel pump. Start with the easiest solution first before replacing the fuel pump.

2004 cavalier stalled on highway wont start

DEFINITELY change the filter...It's only about ten times past its useful life. Then check fuel pump, pump relay and fuse. (doubt if you'll have to!!)

Cavalier dies

you need to find the fuel pressure release around the fuel rail press the little tab when the car dies. If there is no fuel coming out from that point, your fuel pump is going.
