Question about Hunter Fan Co. 60 In.Brushed Nickel Stonebridge Remote Control Ceiling Fan

Remote controlled ceiling fan has mind of it's own.

Installed a Hunter Westside II remote controlled ceiling fan. Problem is that it randomly turns on by itself. Sometimes the light, sometimes the fan. Removed battery from remote, problem remains. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I have the same fan. The fan and the remote have some "jumpers" which allow you to change the codes, useful if someone else nearby has the same fan. You can see the jumpers inside the remote, open the back cover... you'll see "4 3 2 1" on the circuit board. Unfortunately you'll need to dismount the fan to change its jumpers, they need to be the same as the jumpers in your remote (which you can move around pretty easily).

My father-in law, and I have had the same problems with our fans, We bought 4 of them about 3 years ago, Oneof his fan went crazy, and lost the high speed, one of mine has gone stupid, where the light flickers when it wants to, and/or the fan refuses to operate properly. I was thinking interference too, but I brought my Scope home and nothing in/near that freq range or side bands. when fan was going crazy, I think there was a bad batch of receivers from Hunter, but we called them, and are sending us replacements free-good thing we filled out those registration cards :)

Lights come on at random .has a remote how to fix ?

The fan remote control receiver used in the Hunter 25730 model fan (see picture) is not available from Hunter. Remove the fan from the ceiling. Remove the receiver and take it to recycling. It can be replaced using a readily available and inexpensive replacement universal remote and receiver controller. There are limitations though. The Hunter receiver provided fan reversing functions. The universal controllers do not. You therefore have two options.

Option 1: The universal receiver can be installed such that the fan direction is fixed, either up or down, all other functions operate normally.

Option 2: A reversing switch can be purchased from Radio Shack for about $4 and installed in the fan. This does require cutting a square hole and drilling two bolt or rivet holes in the side of the cylindrical housing which previously housed the Hunter receiver. I'd suggest the Radio Shack DPDT slide switch part number 275-403.

Refer to the wiring diagrams and connector pinout diagram for connections. Please note that the connector pinout diagram is the connector that is soldered to the circuit board as shown in the photo of the Hunter receiver. If your motor wire colors are different then with the connector unplugged from the receiver use a multimeter to probe all the motor wires in order to identify two pairs of wires that indicate approximately 70 ohms each pair. These will be the motor windings. 6b0a1409-5a20-4efe-a059-c600652e9512.jpg 5da8e4ef-1b54-40d0-a8a4-21d4608b1d23.jpg 9fc8772d-3ac3-41b7-aa55-78ccc6e5ea00.jpg 0759e340-6464-4c4b-90f5-6d9926e74e42.jpg

Hunter Ceiling Fan Remote Works Sporadically

The part that receives the signal from the remote control is the receiver which is located in the motor housing.

My hunter ceiling fan light keeps turning on randomly, it has been installed for @3 years (just recently started doing this). I have a remote control

There may be another remote control in the room/house that is causing it to turn on. A member of my family has a fan that uses a remote, when they turn on their stereo it also activated the dimmer on their ceiling fan light.

step 1 would be to ensure that it isnt other remotes that are causing this to happen.

step 2 would be to replace the batteries in the remote for the fan. once they are replaced use the remote to turn on and off the functions that are being turned on randomly.

if it is not anything to do with remotes, have the person that put it in for you disconnect it from power completely to try to reset the control board.

if that doesnt help, you may have a defective product that needs to be replaced.

if this doesnt work, report back with some more detail and I will try to help.

Our Hunter Fan and Light with remote has been installed for over 1 year. It has always had the 'ghost' problem where it will randomly turn itself on or off but we have been able to live with that. Last...

Your ghost problem was probably due to a loose connection. The wire has probably come completely loose or the heat from the loose connection has damaged the relay.

Light turns on by its self

When this happens, providing it isn't a neighbor playing tricks, on you. It is nearly always the Receiver, front end glitching, and it makes the unit think, it is receiving a signal. You need to replace your controller box, if possible. Try a "Reset" remove power to the Controller, leave off for a bit, reconnect power, if that doesn't clear it, then go with the bad controller. Sometimes it can be interference.

I have a Hunter fan with remote. The fan or the light comes on by itself with no one around

See my post below: (Sorry, we're in the same boat)

Hunter ceiling fan with remote, have 5, 4 are seriously impaired! Lights dim to half strengh after variable time 10 seconds-30 minutes. And lights or fan turns on randomly (come home & fan on full blast), and one in which the lights won't dim (just blinks when try to dim)! Hunter "kinda" admits there is serious problem with remote but doesn't have a solution. Tells people to try changing to different code due to possible interference (pain in **** to change code on ceiling base!), was totally ineffective. Then replaced receiver in ceiling base (another total pain) in 3 fans with new ones sent Hunter, still totally useless. Hunter's suggestion, don't use the remote, just use the pull chain. If I had wanted a pull chain fan, I'd have bought a pull chain fan. TOTALLY USELESS! Moral of story: If you want a remote ceiling fan (my friend found out that all their remotes are made by the same company in Taiwan), don't buy Hunter!!!!! P.S. I found a "Kinda"- fix for the lights dimming to half strenth. After turning on the lights, wait 1 second, then dim lights slightly, they will then stay on the strength that you dim them to. - P.P.S. When I changed the receiver in the one where the lights won't dim, it "solved" that problem...Now it has the same problem as the others, lights or fan turn on randomly!
