There is no easy fix, you?ll have either disassemble and get dirty, or take to an authorized repair person. This zoom error problem is usually caused due to dirt or dust in the zoom mechanism.

If you think you can handle disassembling the camera then grab a set of gentile screwdrivers and follow these instructions:

You will have to remove a few circuit boards in order to get to the zoom mechanism.

    Remove the zoom mechanism:

    And the gear box:

You?ll need to disassemble the gearbox, make your self a drawing or (if you have another camera) take pictures of every step of the disassembly in order to remember how to reassemble it correctly!

Place it on a clean table and under a strong light and carefully disassemble:

Apr 16, 2007 - You should notice some small particles of dirt (sand or grit) on the tiny gears, in my experience most ?zoom error? problems are caused by a small grain of sand. preventing the gearbox from turning smoothly.

Carefully Scrape the dirt off with a small clean brush or even a screwdriver and re-assemble the camera.

Once you put it back together the zoom error should be gonna!

    Good Luck

Can I fix a broken flash on the powershot sx230 HS?

Doubtful. It sounds like it's physically damaged and will need to go in for repairs. There could be an issue with wiring broken or circuit board damage.

My lens will not focus. Pictures are all coming out blurry no matter what setting I have the camera on, and no matter how much I zoom in or nout.

Hi

You know sometimes the lens will not focus if you have a physical damage etc., first of all i would like to clarify some points.

1. Did you place your camera near to a strong magnetic area?
2. Did you drop the camera?
3. Did you use Zoom in Zoom-out continuously at the same time?

for the first point i am sure it was exposed to strong Magnetic field, as and when it is exposed the coil of the zoom lens which move the lens in and out will get out of place and makes it impossible to maintain focus. If so then better is to open the camera and re-adjust the lens. But if you are confident to put it back then open it or try to slowly wiggle the camera and check if it gets better.

I have got a zoom error in my fujifilm

A lens error can be caused by physical damage to the mechanism that controls the lens, or debris that is interfering with the operation of the lens.

This article may be able to help you with a "do it yourself" solution.

In the event that your problem is due to physical damage and not just dirt or debris, you will need to take it to a local camera repair shop for troubleshooting-- though with most consumer digital cameras, labor and parts cost of a repair can easily exceed the value of the camera.

My Fuji S1500 lens will not go in and out? It reads zoom error

Put a freshly charged battery in the camera. Lay it on its back on a firm smooth surface with a cloth between the camera and the surface. Hold the zoom button in and while holding it in, turn the power on the camera. If the lens moves tun the camera so the lens points down and continue to zoom in and out. That may free some grit or dirt wedging the lens in place. If that doesn't clear the trouble, look closely at the lens and the way it sits in the camera housing. Check to see if the gap around the lens is even. If it is not, gently apply pressure with your hand in the direction of the widest gap. Listen closely for a light snap. If you hear one, the adds are the guid pins snapped back in place and you may now try the zoom. If all this fails there is one more thing to try, but it may result in further damage. if you will probably trash the camera otherwise, try this. Remove the battery. Holding the camera firmly by the edges with one hand with the lens down, slap the camera into your cupped opposite hand several times. Replace the battery and try the zoom. If the zoom works this time, with the lens pointing down, zoom the lens in and out several times to try to let the grit or dirt jamming the lens drop out.

I dropped it and it says zoom error

Sounds like the power zoom assembly (motor, gears, etc), has jammed due to the drop. That and possible electronic problems on the controller board or possibly the zoom switch itself suffered damage in the drop also. Try working the zoom switch rapidly , back and forth a few times and see if it frees up. May be a candidate for the repair shop. Sorry for your accident.

'zoom error' on olympus sp-560 uz

I had this problem and managed to fix it. The camera was dropped on a stone floor and the zoom error was present every time it was turned on. A ring or other piece of the lens was bent or damaged, in my non professional opinion. A profesional repair is my advice. However you may try my fix at YOUR OWN RISK.

Switch camera on, when zoom extends, but before it closes down due to zoom error, gently but firmly push lens back in. Drop batteries for camera to reset itself. Repeat, if necessary.

My camera now operates fully and when the lens extends it now no longer makes the slight grinding noise.

Good luck and remember at your own risk.

Wont Focus

If its making a noise when you try to zoom in and out I would suspect physical damage. The more you mess with it the greater the chances of damaging it beyond economic repair. I would take it to the local authorized canon repair shop.
