Question about RCA D52W20 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I have an rca d52w20 52" tv i am trying to fix. when you press the power button the light comes on but the screen is blank. you can hear the sound it makes when it powers up but you can also hear a hissing/crackling sound(im guessing capacitor) , then it turns off after about 6 seconds. could someone point me in the right direction, what to check? i have the electronics and soldering skills so thats not a problem.
thanks in advance.

This is not a friendly chasis, the only easy fix that you might check on the power supply board and the left side (looking from the back) 3 capacitor (220,330,and 2200uf 16V) have the top pop up. Other than that poping, arcing noise, burn smell when first start up is bad york, Flyback Transformer and even the cooling leak for those tubes you will need professional TV repair man. Those TV picture not very nice anyway.

Replace CP150 on the deflection board and that should take care of the problem since it starts once in a wnile if it didnt start ever then you would need the 259296 flyback and the CP150 Capacitor.

there is a possibility that the semiconductor in power supply side damaged due to electrical surge. more likely the STR IC of Diodes.

OK on same circuit board as fuse up on the front part of board look at capacitor cp150 if it is swollen or puffed up it is bad 2200uf 16v use 25v and replace 2 other capacitors in same area cp114 cp120 220uf 35v.

if you heard a hissing or like static sound your board probably has a hole in it now. the board on the left side with the flyback fransformer. the hole is from where a prong has come loose an is arking over an it burns the board the ark is the sound you heard.
