Question about RIM BlackBerry 8800

Call barring I bought a 2nd hand blackberry pearl, after a week it's saying no sim card and all calls were barred. I'm presuming it was a stolen phone and the original owner had it blocked. Is there anything I can do to get it working again?

I'm having the same problem "SIM: Call Barred" - and it comes and goes at will. I bought it through a customer at a cell story, the owner was going to by the blackberry and I happened to be in the store, and so I took it at a discount. Now, 3 months later, it's been blocking calls for 2 wks. I went back in and bought a new SIM card, and it worked for 2 days, and now I'm having the same issues - HELP!

It that was the case, no.......what you can try to do, to be sure, try putting another sim card in the phone.....if that doesnt work, you will have to do a wipe of the handheld....it could have gotten a virus. in order to do that, go to options, security options, general settings, press the menu button and select wipe handheld

I bought a bold 9700 from AT&T, and have unlocked it. Put a fido 3g sim card in. On the 3G network I can do everything including recieving phone calls but when i go to dial out it says " Call failed due to SIM Took kit control error. Please try again then it says "SIM:Call Barred." I have tried everything from checking call barring options to everything and it seems that nothing works. However when i switch to the 2G network everything works and I can make outgoing calls.

I talked to blackberry tech and they said that for some odd reason the 4000 series sim cards have this error only on the unlocked AT&T bberry bolds for it was the same problem on the Bold9000 and now on the Bold 9700.

Can anyone help. ! ! ? for i cannot use the 3g @ all times and its annoying to switch back and forth...

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

If you are getting an error message saying, "Invalid SIM Card" or "Incorrect SIM Card", then you would need to unlock the phone first.

My phone is not reading my sim card, i have at&t service. with a data plan enabled. the signal bar says "SOS" and i can only make emergency calls. how can i fix this?

Hello,
If you have pulled the sim card out and verified by the diagram on the phone that you put it in properly, you may have a "burnt" sim chip, unless you have tried it in another phone with success. Burnt chips can happen for a number of reasons, some of which could be physical damage. You will need to go to a cell phone kiosk or store and purchase and activate a new one. They usually cost about $25. They would be able to tell you if something was wrong with the sim as well as they should have a sim reader on hand.

Invalid sim

1. (easyer way) When I got my Blackberry, I had to put it in a couple of times for it to work.

2. Buy a new sim card.
If this does not work, then check to see if it is unlocked.

Hello,

This error is due to having an old SIM card.
Please talk to your carrier to get the latest SIM card.
You most likely have received an old SIM card batch.

Hope it helped.

Emergancy calls only

Hi
I am afraid it sounds like a barred handset. It may have been reported lost or stolen. If you call O2 they can access a database and check IMEI for you. I am afraid it doesnt sound good though! I presume your sim works fine in another phone?
Sorry not better news!
