It can be done but you have to find and fix the leak first. These units are not supposed to lose refrigerant over time and the refrigerant doesn't wear out. If that is your problem and you have to pay someone to do it just buy a new one. Sorry.

How do i put freon in this unit

I have had a AD75UST0 WHIRLPOOL Dehumidifier for several years. If it actually still runs, I would suggest you take off covers and give the coils a good thorough cleaning. Otherwise the units are not designed to be serviceable aka - "disposable small appliance". if you do dispose of it take it to a qualified recycle organization for Freon products.

Dehumidifyer freon leak

You can choose to ignore the toxic Freon leak and continue running your dehumidifier until the compressor fails due to lack of Freon, but why wait

My dehumidifier is running but there is no water in the buchet after several days of running.

the evrapitor coil rots out in about two years and all the freon leaks out. to repair it will cost more than you paid for it.

Freon leak

This is NOT a member of the family. The sealed system repair cost (to replace the evaporator) would exceed the price of a replacement dehumidifier. (even if it is in warranty, most all manufacturers will replace it rather than do a sealed system repair on it) Buy a new one.

Dehumidifier frosts up

A dehumidifier will often frost up if room temperatures are colder than about 65 degrees F. If your room temperature isn't this cold, airflow to the unit may be restricted or blocked entirely. 1) Be sure the unit is set far enough from the wall so that airflow isn't restricted. 2) Clean the evaporator coils. To do this, unplug the dehumidifier and take off the outer cover. Allow excess moisture to evaporate from the coils. Then, using a brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner, remove all dust buildup. If necessary, cover the motor and electrical parts with plastic sheeting and spray with water.
