Question about Legacy LA1490 - American Series 2 - 1400 Watt High Performance 2 Channel Amplifier Car Audio Amplifier
The problem would either be a faulty FET or a short circuit in the unit. if you know what your doing open the amp up and inspect it for any blackening on the circuit board or if any transisters, capacitors, diodes, etc looked charred. If so there are many places you can have this fixed at.

Check for pinched wire causing ground loop. Screws and seats are easy culprits. If you have a spare RCA... or can borrow or buy a cheap one... run it from the radio to the amp without routing the wires in the car and test.
Possibly could be hitting metal behind radio. Be sure to secure and tape wires.
