HARD DRIVE LIGHT COMES ON AT START BUT WILL NOT INITIALIZE THE MONITOR . THEN AFTER A MINUTE OR SO THE HARD DRIVE SHUTS OFF . THINK THIS A POWER SUPPLY PROBLEM . AFTER THE INITIAL SHUTDOWN WHEN RESTARTING THE HARD DRIVE THE FANS WILL ONLY INTIALIZE FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THEN THE HARD DRIVE SHUTSOFF . CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS TO BE A POWER SUPPLY ISSUE.

- the whole system meaning the hard drive which supplies the monitor etc... . All other equipement is functioning properly . This occured after a power failure in the house . The PC was attached to a surge protector. Do you think it is the power supply?
Thank You

- The monitor will not even initialize when the power is on after unplugging the hard drive and getting about 40 seconds of power with no start up going to the monitor , modem etc......

It is a little hard to tell, I dont think its a psu problem. I have seen something similar when a cpu/motherboard went faulty. (Older machine could not get either cpu or motherboard to test) Also worth checking your ram is seated correctly.
