Question about Goldstar MV-1501 Microwave Oven

Goldstar MV1501 Everything works, the keypad, light inside, clock, etc. The turntable won't turn and it wont heat. Is it worth getting fixed or just buying a new one?

In most cases this is a bad door switch or a broken or loose door switch mount.

This is very economical for the average do-it-yourselfer as opposed to a service call, which may cost $75 to get someone in the door then another $50 or so to fix it, plus parts.

Microwave turntable and light inside oven just turned on automatically and it wont stop and the only command (buttons) that works is the clock. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in and the problem is...
It sounds like either a relay contact/suppressor or Triac has failed on the control panel or even a door switch.

Won't heat and turntable doesn't turn
In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even something in the Power Supply. or a fault that is shutting the system mangnetron down, for safety reasons You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

No heating, turntable does not turn, but clock & lights work.
Check to make sure the plastic on the shelve holders or tuntable guide did not wear and expose metal. If these holders or brackets are wore and exposed metal it shorted out your micro wave. They need to be replaced and a fuse needs to be replaced inside the control panel,

No heat
Magnatron is suspect. Need to put a voltmeter and see if the input (primary) side to the high-voltage transformer (big heavy iron thing in there) is getting 120Vac. Don't touch the other (high voltage) side of this transformer. If the power is there, you are looking at replacing the magnatron. Its affordable if you do it yourself - buy the part on EBAY - lookup "universal magnatron"

Could be the relay, an internal fuse. With the power off, open up the key panel and search for a fuse. Also, there are thermo sensors black, diameter of a dime and 3/8 inch thick with two wires. Check the fuse and replace if necessary. The thermo can be jumped out to test. Remove the wires, use a paper clip between them and tape it up. Briefly turn the unit on. Replace if it works now. The thermo is generally clamped to the wall of the oven behind the key panel. Never run without the thermo sensor.

If the turntable does rotate, I'd suspect a more significant failure, such as the transformer, capacitor, or magnetron. If it's any of these, it's time to replace the unit.

The most likely causes are defective a door switch (or switch mount), a bad connection in the high voltage section, or on the controller.
