Question about Arris SURFboard SB5101 Cable Modem

Dear forum-freinds, I have Motorola cable modem type SB5101E. From a month ago up to now I can't use my cable Internet because it's been dropping connection after 5-9 minutes after restart. Nothing happens when I tried to: 1. Connect modem directly to the computer, instead via splitter. 2. Connect to the other branch of cable TV. 3. Check my computer on having viruses by NOD32, and spywares by Search & Destroy. 4. connect to the my neighboor's computer with the same connection and modem. 5. Deinstall and install modem drivers. 6. Change modem adapter. 7. Connect it to the network adapter instead to the USB port. Every time it loses connection all the lights suddenly turn off, except PC Connection light. When having connected it to my neighboor's comuters only Receive light is on. Modem reseller thinks something's wrong with my cable provider. Cable provider thinks something's wrong with the modem (it's getting weaker), but they are not sure. They came and found out nothing. Hi,
If you say the lights are going out on the modem when it boots you off the network then the problem is your modem and not your internet connection, if the modem is new take it back and have them swap it for another one.

Hi Guys/Gals,

My wireless connection is not working and i cannot log on to it, I have connected a Netgear WGT624 V3 Wireless Router to my Motorola SurfBoard SB5101E Modem which is connected to Telewest Cable Broadband (internet works fine if i access directly through the modem), on the router the power light is lit and also the internet light flashes rapidly but the wireless light comes on for a couple of
seconds and then goes out - i think this is the problem? I have tried logging on to the router to check the wireless settings but cannot access it, i have also tried connecting directly via LAN but cannot get this to work either although i am not sure if i have connected it correctly?

Any ideas/comments/advice is very much appreciated!!

I have no lights on my sb5101e


Please hard reset the modem if no go then check the power adapter if still there is no lights then the modem is faulty.

Internet connection drops within 5 min after (re)booting Airport


Speak with your internet provider, it sounds to me that the apple people didnt know what the problem was without getting down and dirtyy with it so they replaced it hoping for an easy fix. Seems to me that either the internet signal is being interrupted between the isp and your home .. or the motorola modem is having problems. I have never been a fan of motorola modems to begin with. Also the rentals u get from cable companies are used.. and typically subpar bottom of the line equipment that fail often. IF you think you will be using cable internet for years to come, purchase a linksys modem, as it is you are paying $3-5 a month for the rental of the modem. But I digress, speak with your isp and see if they cant troubleshoot the problem.. if 2 airports are having the same problem the chances of it being the airport... slim to none. good luck with all of this post again if nothing changes.

Modem crashes, and won't work again until I power cycle


you may want your cable company to come out and check the forward signal to the modem wich could be to low , or the return to the modem  could be to low/high . one last thing is ,it could be having packet loss so severe that it drops your connection even though the modem stays linked up.
