I purchased an 8 inch heavy-duty brushcutter blade for my Ryobi 30 cc four cycle powerhead how do I attach it to the string trimmer head

You can't use the blade on most string trimmers unless you have a brush cutter style then you would unscrew the trimmer string head and attach the blade with the adapter that came with the unit.

Our string broke on our patio umbrella. is it fixable?

It absolutely is fixable, type restring patio umbrella into your search engine and look at several of the YouTube videos detailing how it can be fixed. The hardest part may be to source the string, why not contact the manufactures and ask if they can supply it. As an additional note you need to make sure all the moving bits work properly and are lubricated not sticking, the string may have broken due to excessive force being needed because all was not as friction free as it should be. http://wwww.dayva.com/contact

Model GDM-69

A GDM 69 three doors. Each door closes using a string attached to a weight, which runs through pulleys or copper tubing, and is held to the top of door. The pulleys or copper tubing can be accessed by removing the aluminum siding located inside cabinet on either side. The left side contains the pulley and weightfs or left and center door, the right for right door (each held on by 4 1/4 screws) . To make the door close, simply make sure string is attached to weight, running though pulley, and attached to top of door.

Glove box door flaps all the way down when I open the glove box.

Look up inside the right or left side of the dash where the glove box closes. There should be a screw that holds stop your talking about. Re attatch it. Unscrew the screw. If broke then use a small nylon strap n secure it to that screw n to the place on the inside of the glove box door.

The part below the guard is designed to come off for cleaning and restringing, as long as you still have all the parts, you just need to put it back together and it will be fine.

Need help restringing it

For starters, if you don't have the original, in-the-box trimmer thread, you should get the appropriate diameter. Ez enough, you just need .9 to .10 diameter thread are somewhere around that diameter.

Which attachment are you trying to restring, there are several. One will have holes for a "fixed string" with a label that says "stop" on it. This is the fixed string attachment head. Take a piece of fix string, these are pieces of precut string that come with various other tidbits in the box, about 10-12 inches long. insert the string through the head the inserted end comes out the other side. Pull that end out to the edge of the "stop" label. Repeat the process for the metal hole on the other side. That's it, now you are ready to go.

The other trimmer head is a bit more difficult. Unscrew the top sleeve to expose the bare, 2 chambered core - have replacement or original thread ready to go (same diameter as mentioned previously). Once you have removed the top, notice that there are two holes with notches in between the 2 thread chambers. The notches will indicate which chamber you will be sending the thread that will be coming through the holes. Have the thread ready to go, and insert one end all the way through the hole on one side and then out the other. Now you must get the string ends coming out more-or-less equidistant from the two attachment holes so that you get an equal balance of thread being fed out of the head - either with helper holding the attachment head or by just hooking the attachment head around a pole or something, pull the 2 threads through to get them equidistant.

Once you've done this, follow the notches at the respective holes to wind the thread into the proper chamber, as if it were fishing line. Finally, put the head sleeve back

For the other trimmer head

How do I get the head off of the trimmer?

There should be a round knob at the bottom of the spool where the string is. Twist off counter clockwise and the spool of string will drop off.

attach a string around the copper wire attached to the brush, place the brush back in the slot and pull both ends of the string out the side of the motor and tape securely, do the same with the other side. Work quickly before the tape lets go of the string.

String broke on marvin 7260 light

If you've reached this web site, you've probably also discovered that the W.B. Marvin company web site informs that they are no longer in business.

I have a Marvin 7260 Ceiling Mount radiant heater, without light, and just had my pull string break as I gently tugged on it to warm my shop.

As I stood there with the the string dangling in my hand, staring dumbfounded at the unit hanging from the ceiling, I realized that I've been using this heater for quite some time and never paid attention to where the string was attached...

I dismounted the heater from the ceiling, poured a cup of coffee, and began a stare down with my old friend. That's when I remembered that I bought two and one was still packed away in the box.

Be sure the heater is cold enough to handle, unplug the heater and dismount from the ceiling, where applicable.

If you're like me and don't remember where the string was attached, it is attached on the side of the unit which has the temperature setting gauge bars.

Adjust the hanging bracket so that you see and access the two screws holding the side panel on the heater. Be sure the screws are fully loosened and pull the side panel from the heater (Note: the hanging bracket may limit how far you can remove this panel).

Peek inside and you should be able to see the other end of the string attached to a tab next to the temperature setting bar gauge. If it was a clean break and there is no string on the inside, you should be able to see a shiny metal tab with a hole in it mounted behind the plastic temperature bar knob.

Decide whether you are going to upgrade your string or reuse the existing one. Thread it through the hole on the front grill immediately in front of the gauge and then through the hole on the shiny metal tab and tie a knot.

Reassemble the side panel to the heater with the two screws - Be sure that you do not tighten these screws too tightly as you are screwing into light aluminum which can be easily stripped - snug is good enough. Plug the heater in and test it. If all works well - remount and enjoy the radiant heat.

Keep in Mind: These heaters cost me $29.99 at Home Depot and therefore are not necessarily worth investing a lot of money or time in repairing. This pull string repair is quite simple however it would be quite reasonable to simply replace the heater if something serious were wrong with such.

Now...Pour yourself a cup of coffee and get that look off your face...!

Best of Luck,

Steve
