Hen bought it didn't have hard drive so i got one from amazon.com 4800 rmp instead of dell's 7200 one help me
As long as the connection interface isn't different, the Rpm does not matter.
Here's a walk through on how to install the drive.

The Bios should automatically recognize the new drive. You can go ahead and install the operating system from a bootable cd or usb.

I used Everest home edition to find the wireless drivers for my DELL C640 laptop. The wireless card in it is an ntel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B MiniPCI Adapter (IBM). I've downloaded the wireless driver from Intel's website, here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=944&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional〈=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go!#DRI
It's the 3rd result in that search page. If the link doesn't work, simply search for Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection on Intel's site.
That Dell C640 wireless driver works fine for me, I'm using the wireless card to type this :)
good luck!

try connecting to a differnt port if it still does the same thing change the usb cable because what i understand is there is a loose connection somewhere ... or the best thing is contact dell at 18006249896 and ask them that u want to change the internal hdd and they will tell u what maximum the system can support and which is available with them ... its their system and if u buy parts from them they have to support u and make sure they both work

shut down the laptop.
then, disconnect the laptop power, and battery.
remove the harddrive, then connect the harddrive firmly back into place.
reconnect power/battery and boot.

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the driver for your Windows operating system.

ok, theres a small issue with the raid controller. You have to install a 3rd party raid driver (its on the dell cd) to continue, OR, you can set that BIOS's hard drive controls to ATA or LEGACY (legacy would likely work best, but youd have no 'raid' functions, but who sets up raid drives on a notebook?). Your last option is use the dell discs to restore, and inssert the windws disc when prompted
Testimonial: "Thank you so much! It didn't have a option for Legacy, but only RAID and ATA. But it's working!! You are super awesome!! Thank you!!!"
