My Vista 64 bit Toshiba Portege laptop wont recognize my HTC dream. I get a codec 10-device wont start. Any ideas?

I had the same problem on my 64-bit Vista desktop. Here's what I did to fix it:
  • I uninstalled the device and drivers from device manager
  • I downloaded the latest Androik SDK from (in my case, it was the 1.5R1, but now it's up to the 1.5R3)
  • I unzipped the package to a 'AndroidSDK' folder on my desktop
  • I reinstalled the drivers from device manager. Just click 'Refresh', and it should ask you for the drivers, if not just find the 'Unknown Device' in the list and right-click and select 'Install Drivers'.
  • When asked to find a driver, browse to the "AndroidSDK\Drivers\WindowsVista\64-bit\' folder on your desktop. It should install the proper drivers (took about 10 minutes for me), and everything should work after that...

I dont know how to put music on it please help an describe how it is a lyra slider digital media player

Well it sounds like a nice mp3 player, What I would do which will make it easier then connecting it to media player to transfer your music into it, You should first connect your player to your computer close any applications that might come on by pluging player in, Then go to the Start Menu click on My Computer, Find your player as a drive that is attached ussually usb if you don't see it. Look at what comes with your player there might be a driver disc thst you have to install driver forthe mp3 player, If not your computer can try to search for driver online but it will tell you that when you plug it in, Also Videos on you tube about that, When you see the Attached drive on the my computer page then click on it and open it, leave it open it should be empty, The go back to start menu and go to the folder where your music is sitting, Open that folder up. If you don't have any music you can copy any CD music to your computer by downloading media player if you don't have it or I- Tunes if you have a Apple computer, AND THEN Rip you cds to your computwer in there and store into music folder, Or buy music online and store into music folder, Then open the folder were your music is, And Pick up the music with your mouse and drag it into your attached drive folder, Drag an drop with your mouse from one music folder to attached drive folder and and then when you get all your music over unplug your mp3 player from your computer, And you are ready to play your music, Good Luck with that.

As strange as it may seem, i have seen USB devices work one time and then be dead the next time you plug it in. I would try to connect it to another computer Or another USB plug on your current computer. If that doesn't work, You might try removing the driver for this device (if it has a driver for your MP3 player) and reinstall it. If when you connected it the first time the computer did not ask you to install a driver then the operating system already has the driver installed for your device.

Good Luck!

Mp3/mp4 driver issue

You need to install the desktop manager software which should be available on the CD that comes with the device. First install the software and then connect the device to the computer using the USB cable.

Designer vision mp3 player

Well, you can always try Reformatting it with the built in Operating System Format.. Since I have no 2000 boxes around anymore, I cannot tell you for sure that it will work with the older OS, but I have had to reformat my old MP3 Flash Stick Player before, and it worked... (Now I use a Zune, so if I loose it, I will have to try something more extreme, like updating the firmware..)

Now, all that being said, I also have a vast array of memory sticks that are quite dead, and formatting them does me no good at all...

Also, it could even be the USB ports themselves that are causing your issues.. one quick fix might be to update the drivers, or just uninstall the USB devices (Device Manager) and then reinstall them, just by rebooting your PC.

I have a great link for solving USB problems, since my website is down for repairs.. read through this for some help with USB:

Getting connected

What kind of Drivers? USB sync Drivers or Orinco Wi-fi Drivers? Try here for USB to Computer Drivers if you have Windows XP: The full CD contents that come with the Mobilepro can also be downloaded from the same page. For Wi-fi Drivers, I THINK the Agere Wi-fi Drivers will work, although I may be mistaken. Try them Here:
And any MiniUSB cable will work with the Mobilepro

E125 MP3 Player

You need to have your music files in a "My Documents" folder on your CFC. If they are anywhere else, the media player will not see them.
