Question about GE GDS18LBR Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
Your drain tube
may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow
because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit
at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the
top a little pressure with a turkey baster
will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may
help. Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain
should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.
If the coils are also icing up you have an auto defrost problem.

To add to woodchucks solution, I did find that the drain tube on my GE fridge, a different model but similar design, had a snake-like shape and this section was having water get caught in it and freezing backing up my system. This section of the drain tube is covered by an insulated metal cover and by removing the cover the icing issue was eliminated.

Its defrost problem. Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 24 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.
