Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

I have Savin 9400d copier. It seems to be copying fine, except the copies are very light even on the darkest setting. I recently replced the toner cartridge with a new one and it didn't seem to make any difference. We are a non-profit and I hope to avoid a costly repair visit. janett

Where is the lens cover? I don't see that listed in my manual. Perhaps it is called something else?

Check your settings and make sure your resolution is set to normal. Also save changes if this is an option. Hope this helps.

If your copier is undertoned, it copier may just need a little cleaning.

Here are some ways you can do that:
Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Photocopier
  • Silicon Oil
  • Anti-static fluid
  • Toner Vacuum
  • Paper path cleaning paper
  1. Step 1 Copier surfaces:

Wipe down glass and other surface with copier anti-static fluid.
  2. Step 2 Clean Drum:

The Drum is a photoconductive part of the copier. This means high intensity light makes the drum electrically conductive. This is the part of the copier to which toner and paper adheres. It can be cleaned by brushing the surface with a Mylar Bar. This bar is usually in the printer and discharges the negative charge on the drum, removing toner and paper particles.
  3. Step 3 Clean Fuser:

The Fuser is the part of the copier that bonds the toner to the printer paper. Clean the fuser with a fuser silicon oil.
  4. Step 4 Vacuum:

Vacuum out paper and toner reception areas with a TONER vacuum.
  5. Step 5 Alternative Method: Photocopier Cleaning Paper

Not as thorough as the previous steps but simple enough. You run this paper through your photocopier like you would any other document and it clean the paper path and rollers.
jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); Use a toner vacuum when vacuuming a copier. All parts are grounded on a toner vacuum, therefore fires or electro-static shocks are prevented.

Hope this helps.

Some copiers have an automatic exposure, which automatically
optimizes toner usage. However, it can have some drawbacks. Depending upon
the setting of your auto exposure, if you are mixing bold print and/or pictures,
with normal print text, it may lighten the dark print to optimize toner
usage, but at the same time will cause faded spots in your normal print
areas. If this happens, reverse the auto-exposure control switch inside
your machine (see your manual if you don't know where this is located).
This will cause the lightest print to darken to optimize toner usage, and
correct the fading problem. This problem seems to be more pronounced
with remanufactured cartridges using long life drums. Because the
long life drums are a bit less sensitive than the OEM drum, having the wrong
auto exposure setting will fade more often than with an OEM cartridge. In
laser printers, and copiers that don't have auto-exposure, the best way
to optimize is to make a copy of your most often copied type of material,
and lighten the density just until it becomes too light, then turn it back
one increment until it is just dark enough to your satisfaction. Mark that
spot, and you will be able to come back to it if you have to change it.
This will use the least amount of toner possible with each copy, and will
    make your cartridge last longer.

Hi,

Remove the lens cover and check the light blocking skirt. They get torn and let stray light by and cause light areas on the copies. lens curtain in the service manual. we "repair" them with black tape. the reflective nature of the tape will give you a light streak when you reduce but its 10+ years old. parts are limited so we have to do what we have to do to keep these customers happy.

As already mentioned check the len's curtain for tear's. Also check the rear bed lift arm as they get bent downward over a period of time causing a uneven charge from the transfer corona which cause's your symtom's. To dis engage the developer unit open the front door and cheat the front interlock switch. You then have to insert a paper clip into the small pin sized hole on the bottom right side front of macine. The hole is just below and to the right of the developer unit. This will put you into the service mode. You then hit *4* and scroll down using the Copy Density key to F006-DEV-RES mode. Press the * key to disengage the developer unit. To engage the developer just hit the * key again.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

I have a savin 2522 and it has a few lines running down my copies

few fine lines is due dirty optics mirrors and lamp, and it may also came from dirty charge rollers due to dirty/worn out charge roller cleaner, worn out cleaning blade and seal blade. to check this, clean/wipe off toner or dirt from charge roller with cloth wet from alcohol or water. then run some test copy.

New cartridge means that the transfer corona is probably going out (or the controller board is sending wrong voltage) because it charges the paper to pull the toner off of the EP drum. This might be replaceable but you have to check with HP about buying one. I did not find them for sale on line but some models have them for about $25.

Canon PC6re copier makes copies that are dark on the long edges

Just fyi, a Canon PC-6e is a copier that is about ten + years old of a model... The drum unit will make the copies better.... But, you most likely need to clean the optic's. Have you tried to make the copies lighter??? If I am correct, there is a small botton on the control pannel that will turn... It will make the copies light one way and darker the other way... Good Luck

New scx-4521-FG/ too much fad

The darkest copy setting is obtained when the contrast is set to dark and the toner save is turned off. If the originals being copied are too light, this unit has trouble seeing the image and the copies are extremely light as well. If the originals are good and dark, try using original toner cartridges.

Be blessed.
