Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Why would I find water under my refrigerator? Does that indicate a problem?

Sometimes while the refrigerator is defrosting, the drip plan will overflow. Look underneath and see if the drip pan is in place. Monitor in the future.

Auto defrost seems to not be working because the drip tray is dry is it supposed to be like this or wet most of the time freezer is cold but not freezing and fridge isnt cold i have temp gaugers in both...

either un plug the fridge and let it defrost manually, or empty and flush out drain line with a hose or hot water. when it goes into the defrost mode, water should drip into the pan..

There seems to be a drip pan under the fridge, it is full of water, however i can not figure out how to get it out to empty it.It is overflowing an leaking onto the floor. What do you suggest?

If you have an automatic ice maker, turn off the water valve so no more water goes to the refrigerator.

If you don't have a water line to the refrigerator, the water is coming from all the humidity inside he unit. Normally, the pan is large enough so the humidity pumped out of the unit (as water) has time to evaporate and you never have to empty it.

For now, get a large terry-cloth towel and put it on the edge of the pan, the water will wick into the towel over time. You can also try a turkey baster to **** the water out like a syringe.

A few things cause excessive humidity in the unit.

1) Make sure the door is closed and you have no damaged seals all the way around the unit (check hinge side of door(s).

2) Do not leave open containers of liquid in the fridge.

3) Do not leave door on fridge open very long.

1996 Frigidaire Fridge/Freezer.... The fridge is leaking underneath suddenly, soaking a full sized towel every 2 hours. The water rung out of the towels is slightly brownish in color. No leaks can be...

I'd check the water supply line to the fridge. If kinked of damaged, may be the source of the leak (make sure that the the connection point to the building's cold water pipe isn't leaking - and simply running down the supply line to the fridge!)

Of course, it could be a cracked solenoid valve (turns water on and off when the ice maker calls for water for ice), loose or broken clamp, broken filter (if equipped), etc. All these connection points in the water supply lines should be visible.

Unplug the fridge as soon as you can reach it before working on a wet floor with live electricity.

Please rate my reply if it was helpful - good luck!

Dripping from freezer

WATER DRIPPING FROM THE FREEZER DOWN TO THE FRIDGE SECTION MEANS YOU HAVE A CLOGGED DRAIN, WHEN THE FRIDGE GOES INTO DEFROST CYCLE, IT MELTS THE ICE FROM THE COIL, THIS WATER HAS TO GO DOWN THE DRAIN TO THE TRAY LOCATED UNDER THE FRIDGE BY THE COMPRESSOR, BUT SINCE UR DRAINIS IS FROZEN, THE WATERS HAS TO FIND ITS WAY OUT SOMETIMES DRIPS TRU THE AIR VENT, AN RUNS DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FRIGDGE SIDE, AN WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR YOU WONT SEE IT, BUT U WILL NOTICE THE WATER ON THE FRONT LATER U JUST WONT KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM...!

IF THE FAN IS NOT RUNNING YOU MIGHT HAVE TO REMOVE THE PANEL ON THE FREEZER SIDE AN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON, A BAD DEFROST DRAIN CAN CAUSE ICE ACCUMULATIONS TO THE POINT WHERE THE ICE WOULD BE SO MUCH AN NOT ALLOW THE FAN BLADES TO SPIN, CAUSING THE FAN MOTOR TO BURN, AN OVERHEAT , BUT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE THE DRAIN, AN THE WATER YOU SEE IS THE WATERR THAT MELTS FROM THE DEFROST CYCLE

Fridge is dripping directly onto top shelf. It is

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back/bottom of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curtain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking into the freezer and down the vent into the fridge instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you have any other question. Heavy water leak in basement under fridge

Has this fridge got an ice maker???
Because ice makers require a water supply to make ice.
This could be where your water is coming from.

Water leaking onto floor from refrigerator/freezer

The defrost drain is stopped up. Without taking anything apart, the easiest way to clear the drain is to blow compressed air through the drain tube which is at the back of the Fridge. You'll see it..... it drains water into the drip pan. Hope this helps !
