Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

PS3 only boots WITHOUT hdd.

I recently got my hands on a faulty PS3 for nothing and am attempting to repair it, thought I might as well give it a go for nothing.
When I turn it on, all seems to function as normal but there is no picture or sound.
If I take the HDD out and then try to boot, it boots and all is fine but it tells me to insert a hard-drive.

I'm assuming I just need to get a new HDD and pop it in, but has anyone else got any ideas before I spend money?

First of all, check if there are any inflated capacitors, if there is even one- ditch MBO, other capacitors will soon follow. If no inflated capacitors proceed with these diagnostic steps: 1/ disconnect all peripherials (DVD, HDD, card reader...), leave only MBO, PSU and RAM (and CPU of course); if nothing happens 2/remove CMOS battery (CR2032) for 20-30 sec with power cord disconected from computer, that will reset BIOS; 3/ take out RAM sticks, then, if you have more than one stick, try with each stick separately (it might be faulty RAM); 4/power on MBO without any RAM-if speaker is present it should give BEEP signals; 5/ try with different PSU, many power supplies are faulty even when they do give power to MBO.
If nothing of above does not help than you have faulty MBO, because CPUs are so rare to fail that in my 10 years of experience in PC service I had 3-4 fried CPU-s, and even that was because costumer tried to clean PC, removed CPU cooler and than incorrectly placed it back or didn't put thermal paste afterwards. asrock-g31m-s-no-display-booting-yuc33qzjuwfqgyyin4u45syc-4-0.jpg

My Hp compaq PC showing problem about HDD - Disk Read Error . But This HDD was run very good to another PC ?

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty Make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty. Computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error. Even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems Motherboard and a Hard Drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail. b> 1: Download a disk read error repair tool, install this error repair tool.
2: Open disk read error repair tool and scan you computer for free

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Select safe mode with command prompt then type in chkdsk/f/r which will scan for and and attempt repair of bad files and bad sectors on hard drive You should have no input while chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer Hope this helps. b>

My computer reads' replace disk. Incorect system

Check to see if a CD or DVD has been left in the CD Drive (most PC's attempt to boot from this device firs and if there is a non-bootable disc in it sometimes gives you that message). If there isn't a disc in the drive then you need to check the BIOS boot settings to see if the correct HDD is selected as the boot device. If both of the above are OK then it is possible that the HDD is faulty.

I have a dell demension 531 w/ vista home os. On boot up "Error loading operating system" appears. Have restore disk but don't want to lose data. Can os be restored without losing data

#1 boot to the F12 menu and run diagnostics and see if the HDD has a failure.
If it doesn't have a HDD failure code, then boot to your Vista recovery DVD and run a repair (This will not cause data loss) if you run repair (you may have to do more than one [Attempt reboot between attempts] until it give a message that there is nothing it can repair) and see if you can get back into windows

I have a 40gb old hdd. it was a currapted .i install the hdd in other pc then i boot from bios setup. but hdd is not booting. the error is display -the disk is not bootable... how i boot the harddisk now....

If the drive is corrupt in one PC it will still be corrupt in another.

There are apps for recovery and attempted repair of HDD's but you have to weigh off the cost of the apps against cost of neww HDD.

Drive not accessible due to I/O error

Without a windows cd or recovery it is very hard. You should take some cd from somebody. At other hand, you can connect your hd to another pc and try program - hdd regenerator- on it.

PS3 60GB

Try removing the HDD via the little door on the left side of your PS3? Try an boot without the HDD then see what happens? I am up to my second HDD after my first one caused similar problems (60GB model). I hope that this helps?
