FYI... The copier will show a jam for 3 reasons. 1 Paper never got to the sensor, 2 Sensor sees paper there all the time or 3 Paper doesn't arrive at the right time. Alot of times paper feed rollers are dirty or worn, often ignored and overlooked, and these will give intermittant jams that show up anywhere in the paper path, often looking like a differant problem. Sometimes sensors are dirty with paper dust and will show a jam when there isn't one, in which case a can of compressed air is good to blow them out. Question, is this jamming out of all drawers and bypass or just one drawer. This would help in eliminating possibilities. Good luck, let me know if you have more questions. Please rate this. Thanks

What light's don't come on ? 4X4 switch ? The GEM - generic electronic module controls the 4X4 system . Checking for DTC'S -diagnostic trouble codes is the first step in the diagnostic process . You miss thing's if you don't . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. Replacing parts without knowing what's going on never works .

SECTION 308-07A: Transfer Case - General Information 2002 F-150 Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 06/20/2001 Transfer Case - Electronic Shift on the Fly (ESOF) Operation The electronic shift on the fly (ESOF) system is an electronic shift 4x4 system that allows the operator to choose between two different 4x4 modes as well as 2-wheel drive. The operator can switch between 2WD and 4H mode at speeds up to 88 km/h (55 mph). To engage or disengage 4L range, the vehicle speed must be less than 5 km/h (3 mph), the brake pedal depressed, and the transmission must be in NEUTRAL.
The transfer case is equipped with an electromagnetic clutch which is located inside the case. This clutch is used to spin up the front driveline when shifting from 2WD to 4H mode at speed. When the control switch on the instrument panel is turned, the generic electronic module (GEM) recognizes that a shift has been requested and activates the electromagnetic clutch and the relays which power the transfer case shift motor. When the shift motor reaches the desired position, as determined by the contact plate position inputs to the GEM, power to the shift relays and motors will be removed. When the transfer case front and rear output shafts are synchronized, the spring loaded lockup collar mechanically engages the mainshaft hub to the drive sprocket. Finally, the front axle collar is engaged and the electromagnetic clutch is deactivated.
Shifts between 2WD and 4H can be made at any speed up to 88 km/h (55 mph). Listed below are the inputs and outputs needed by the GEM to execute a change between any of these modes.
Feature Inputs:
  • 4WD mode switch (various resistances; go to Table 1).
  • Contact plate position inputs A, B, C, D (grounded when closed, open circuit when open; go to Table 4).
Feature Outputs:
  • 4x4 shift motor relay outputs (go to Table 2).
  • Transfer case clutch relay (grounded when relay is activated, open circuit when relay is deactivated).
  • 4x2/4x4 vacuum solenoid (grounded when activated, open circuit when deactivated).
  • Cluster indicators (ground when activated, open circuit when deactivated).
When shifting into or out of 4L, the GEM requires that the vehicle speed be less than 5 km/h (3 mph), the brake is applied, and the transmission is in NEUTRAL.
Feature Inputs:
  • 4WD Mode Switch (various resistances; go to Table 1).
  • Contact Plate Position Inputs A, B, C, D (grounded when closed, open circuit when open; go to Table 4).
  • Output Speed Shaft (OSS) Sensor (Sinusoid Signal: 0.7V-20V, 2.2 Hz/mph).
  • Brake Input (battery voltage when brake is depressed, open circuit when not activated).
  • Transmission Range Sensor (grounded when transmission is in NEUTRAL, open circuit otherwise).
  • Start/Clutch Depressed Input (go to Table 3).
Feature Outputs:
  • 4x4 Shift Motor Relay Outputs (go to Table 2).
  • 4x2/4x4 Vacuum Solenoid (grounded when activated, open circuit when deactivated).
  • Cluster Indicators (grounded when activated, open circuit when deactivated).

What are the common problems when a 2001 Lincoln navigator lifegate won't open

Do you have power lift gate ?
The power liftgate may not operate under the following conditions:
  • a low voltage or dead battery.
  • a disconnected battery.
  • a power liftgate that has been left open for more than six hours.
  • a power liftgate that has been manually closed and left ajar.
If any of these conditions has occurred, the power liftgate must be reset before performing any pinpoint tests. For additional information, refer to
Power Liftgate Initialization NOTE: If the power liftgate system is turned OFF in the message center, the system cannot be activated with any switches or with the liftgate handle. The system will need to be turned ON for any power operation to occur.

As an alternative, you can try making a new Time Machine backup from the files of the old HDD. Install Mavericks from scratch on the SSD and then transfer the documents needed back from the Time Machine.

I would recommend installing fresh OS X when upgrading from HDD to SSD anyway.

Here is how to make a bootable USB stick for installing Mavericks:

Do you need any additional assistance?

Without knowing how the 4X4 works you don't have much chance of finding the problem , (tapping on stuff ) ? There is an electronic control module that makes this system work . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's stored in the (GEM)

I have a konica 2400 w magic color. error message paper jam when no paper jam

Hi Camru, I wondering if the jam light is on at power up before data is sent to your machine or if it occurs after a print job is sent to it?

If it is on constant ie before a print is sent to it, then we have a sensor or paper detect switch activated. If this is the case then it can be a piece of paper or a remaining fragment of paper holding down the switch or the switch arm itself is broken or its corresponding light sencing photocell is covered in toner/dust.

In Printers there are a number of these sensors in the paper path, generally we have one that detects paper at cassette and bypass position, another at registration roller another at fuser exit, the machine monitiors these switchs for activation to tell if a jam is present. These switchs are tiny plastic arms that get pushed down when paper passes them which in turn blocks the photocell sencing light. One normally finds fragments of paper sticking the arm down, or the arm broken, most of the time the printer also tells us jam position so we know which switch it is seeing a jam condition at. Check the switch operation by looking for them, and ensuring the arm is moving freely.

The other possibility is the machine with no data present shows no error but a error occurs when a print job is sent to it. If this is the case it is caused usally by incorrect paper size settings in printer paper size menu or the printer drivers paper size settings on installed driver in printers under control panel of computer, It can also be caused if the paper is feeding multi sheets from cassete due to dirty rubber rollers in printer itself or not picking paper from tray at all as the feed roller is slipping on paper in tray due to losing its grippyness.

I clean feed rollers with water, just slightly damp rag and rub the rubber surface of the feed roller, sometimes they are so worn they need replacing, I will post a pic for you and also here is the service manual of a machine pretty much the same as yours.

This is another uses post on how he fixed his, please note this will be the same as yours only if jam only occurs after data is sent to your machine.

Cheers

Steve

Display says line error and print out says jam

• Check the connection. The cord from the TEL.LINE jack to the wall jack should be no longer than
six feet.
• Make sure there are no modem devices sharing the same telephone line.
• Check with the other party to make sure their fax machine is functioning properly.
• Have your telephone line checked for line noise.
• Try connecting the fax machine to a different telephone line.
• If the problem still occurs, your fax machine may need service.
Clearing a jammed document
If the original document doesn't feed properly during transmission or copying,
or DOCUMENT JAMMED appears in the display, first try pressing start/memory . If
the document doesn't feed out, remove it as explained below.
Important:
Do not try to remove a jammed document without releasing it as explained
below. This may damage the feeder mechanism.

Make about 5 to 10 prints; then, leave the machine in the office environment (normal temperature/humidity conditions)

* This symptom is noticeable in a low temperature/ humidity environment, and is absent under normal environmental conditions.

* This symptom occurs in keeping with the primary charging roller rotation (38 mm).

Paper jam light flashes but no paper is jammed. I turned some gears and after a while it started to work. After one try, it did not copy and the light started flashing again.

There are four things I would check first. All depends on what was happening when the problem occurred. 1) If there was a paper jam to begin with, check to make sure all the paper came out and didn't tear. The two areas to check are in the transfer area below the cartridge and at the fuser area. 2) At these same two areas check the (usually black) plastic paw and make sure it isn't broken and functioning properly. 3)Paper/paper dust can accumulate around the photo interrupter and cause mis reads for paper jams. Again this is in the same area. 4) If the paper feeds out of the cassette about in inch and then jams for no apparent reason, it is usually caused from dirty/worn pick up tires. If this is a symptom I would clean the pick ups with alcohol. Hope this helps
