COBY 207 get error msg which says "no disc" and refuses to play until a light weight is placed on lid. Then it will play the disc.

Following your advice, I sprayed some old TV tuner cleaner around the latch button and then pushed the button many times until the latch stopped sticking. Then, I was able to play a CD without putting a weight on the lid.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

A repair shop had advised me to throw the player away.

You have a problem with the latch in the lid check and see if its dirty, do this by moving it with your finger if it moves but dont come back on its own then you just need to clean it. if its free mmoving then you will need to inspect the rest of the attaching hardware you could have a broken hinge or something like that.

Am trying to hook up an older kenwood home stereo system and dont know where all of the wires go. There is a model #kt-87synthesizer, km-207 amplifier, double cassette kx-77cw, stereo control amp kc-207...

Okay you are going to need 5 sets of RCA cables of 3 foot lengths. Ensure the KM-207 is adequately ventilated unless you want to burn up the KM-207. Next you will want to place the KC-207 near the KM-207 and connect the "Output to Amp" from the KC-207 to the "Input" to the KM-207. Now you may stack the KX-77CW, the DP-M97 and the KT-87 Tuner in no particular order. I tend to place them sideways so I may access them just in case I don't like how it is set up. Unless I can access them from the back. "Output" or "Play" from the DP-M207 goes into the "CD Input" in the back of the KC-207. "Output" or "Record" on the KC-207 "Tape 1" goes into the "Input or "Record" on the KX-77CW. "Output"or "Play" on the KX-77CW goes into the "Input" or "Play" on the "Tape 1" of the KC-207. "Output" on the KT-87 Tuner goes into the "Tuner Input" on the KC-207. Here is a trick to help you new stuff uses color codes such as White or Blue RCA cable ends, and Red RCA cable ends to indicate White or Blue for Left channel and Red for Right channel. Now you didn't indicate how to hookup speakers so I will not assume you are concerned about anything but using headphones for listening. I hope this has been of assistance.

Wrong format error msg

If they're not mp3 files then it's probably not supported by that mp3 player and that why you get this message.
Try converting them to mp3s on the computer before you put them on it.

Try to use a cotton swap to 1st clean the recording lens or blow gently on it. Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

Display read "disc error" then "no magazine"

Most likely there is a CD jammed in transit between the player mechanism and the magazine. This is a common problem. You will have to remove the unit and disassemble it sufficiently to get the CD back in the magazine and, in turn, allow the magazine to be removed.

Mp-c841(256mb) keeps giving a error--DISC ERROR...what does that mean...and the music won't come on because of the error...i changed the battery...but still get DISC ERROR

Make sure the hold switch is not engaged first - see p.15 of your manual for location.

Also, you may get that msg if you tried to load a DRM-protected file or an iTunes song (anything other than mp3 format is generally going to give you a problem with this player).

Displays "wrong disc" after trying to load

I have found several of these that have had that problem and the ones i repaired had the same problem the power had failed to the laser eye. it was a different fix for each but that was the basic answer you can take it apart if its not under warrenty and look at the power board look for burnt resistors they turn black, or darker brown spots on the board. one did have the motor that controlled the eye bad the eye would not move.

Player Does not play any type of Disc

Press case lid where it attaches to player. If this makes unit react you have a defective lid switch. You can probably put some weight over it to hold lid down and it will operate. Otherwise switch must be repaired
