when I turn on my laptop I don't even get a black screen--it seems like the screen isn't coming on.

i try several convertor( vga to s-video or vga to component) but i cant get the screen .

- my tv is analoge.and my labtop only has a vga port and my tv has component port,s-video port and AV port.so i get a passive convertor vga to S-video.but it does not work.and i cant find any other convertor that has power.may be it can be useful.what do you think?Solution #1

You need to download the ATI Hydravision software, that is what I had to do before the picture would show up on my TV using the VGA-->Svideo connector

Dell Latitude. You have to press the Blue (Fn ) button on the bottom row of keys at the same time as (F8) function key at the top on Dell Latitdue laptops. You can toggle back & forth between laptop monitor only, TV monitor only or both monitors on at the same time. No need to install extra drivers unless something is broken. There are more neat blue function keys that you should read up on. There are a lot more features that come in handy with those.
