Question about IBM ThinkPad T22 2647 Notebook

1 Answer

My IBM T23 Laptop screen keeps going off (hibernating or sleeping?)

How do I change the setting so that the screen does not go to hibernate or go to sleep?  Or, as I am not familiar with programming computers and changing settings, what should I do to turn it on again besides removing and replacing both the main batter and backup battery? On internet I found T23 manual for maintenance and repair, but not User Manual. I bought this secondhand and have not had it very long, so I'm not used to it and it is my first laptop. Pls help me.

What operating system you running? I assume XP. If you go to start > settings > control panel > Power options (I think). You can change the options on how long before the screen turns off and stuff in there. For the other problem just right click on your desktop, and click "Properties". Adjust the screen resolution there.

I am tying to charge my ipod but my laptop but ifi am not using my laptop for more than15 mins. how do i get my laptop to stay on while i am not using it

Go to help or control panel and type in 'sleep and hibernation faq' and follow the 'power options' to the directions to keep the computer from sleeping and hibernating.

You can adjust how long your computer waits before sleeping or
hibernating-or prevent it from turning itself off altogether. But be careful. On
a battery powered laptop, inhibiting sleep or hibernation can result in data
loss if the battery dies. Here's how to prevent your computer from entering a
power-saving state:

  1. ? to open Power Options.

  2. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings next to the selected plan.

  3. On the Change settings for the plan page,
    click Change advanced power settings.

  4. On the Advanced settings tab, double-click
    Sleep, double-click Sleep after, and
then do one of the following:

    • If you're using a laptop, click On battery
or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click

    • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

  5. Double-click Hibernate after, and then do
    one of the following:

    • If you're using a laptop, click On battery
or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click

    • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

  6. If you also want the display to stay turned on, double-click Display, double-click Turn off display
, and then do one of the following:

    • If you're using a laptop, click On battery
or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click

    • If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

  7. Click OK, and then click Save

Screen goes blank every 30 second, have to hit the

go to control panel > power options. Turn off hibernate and sleep mode, change all settings to never sleep and change the setting for "when closing the lid" to "do nothing" sleep mode, hibernation can destroy the registry on these laptops, you are better off turning that garbage off and just letting it run.

I am unable to unhibernate

Power down the computer and power back up. Lets just shut hibernation can always just have the computer is much better on the system anyway.

Shutting Down Hibernation

Go to the control panel > Power Options > Hibernation tab > uncheck hibernate…this way you save a lot of disc space and don’t have to go through all the intermittent hibernation problems that occur. After you uncheck hibernation, you can go to the other power options and change how the computer reacts to the lid being closed, when it sleeps and for how long before sleep kicks in. Make sure to change the setting for what happens when lid closes to “do nothing” this will keep the laptop alive even though you close the lid to move it, etc.

Can't wake up....gone into sleep do you wake it up

press and hold the power button down for about 5 secs. The computer will shut down. Restart it and right click on the desktop, go to properties then look for screensaver tab , then choose power options, click on hibernation tab at the top and uncheck enable hibernation. Or choose stanby options and choose a longer time before the computer goes to sleep.
