My compaq presario v2000 has a fuzzy screen and the colors on the backgrounds that are supposed to be white are like and aqua green color and i was just wondering how to fix it. Is there something i can...

First thing you want to try is getting the laptop to display on an external monitor. If it doesn't replicate the same issues then you know it is either the screen or the inverter/backlight.

if it does then it is most likely a motherboard issue and sadly can not be fixed outside of replacing the board.

assuming you are using XP-
1. right click on your desktop and select "Properties"
2. click on the "Setting" tab
3. make sure that the color Quality is set to "Highest 32 bit"
4. you can also:
  • click on "Advance"
  • find the tab of your graphic card
  • make sure it is on settings that allow high quality of colors

Screen colour not matching the printed pages

Unfortunately that's the age old problem of matching colors between computers and printers. Your printer is probably not the problem, that's why he couldn't fix it. Even though your monitor is set to default values it doesn't mean that your colors are correct as colors can vary from monitor to monitor and the color temperature is probably too high causing the colors to look lighter than the printout. The picture on the monitor may look good to you, but it's not set right for matching printer colors. Monitors use RGB (Red, Green & Blue colors) colors and printers use CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta & Black) colors and you have to make them get the results you want. You will have to do some tweaking of your monitor's settings to get it to match the printer output. Below are some links that will help explain things better and maybe help you adjust your monitor.

Display blinking and turn in to white color with black lines

no its not a driver you have a video chip getting ready to fail.on the v2000 it intergrated in to the mother board. soon you will be joining many other compaq v2000 and m2000 owners in the search for a mother board compaq has updated part numbers it a whole differant board for these units due to having a common failure rate of the original mother boards.Compaq know there was a over heating of the video chip that leads to failure but has not offered any assistance to there customers. john@johnslaptops.com

Display Problem Black turns Red

sounds like you have a loose connection ....either into the screen or into the motherboard....the connection between board and screen runs through the hinge brackets and often comes loose after machine has been opened and closed a lot.....need to be comfortable opening up laptops to check the cables as it can be tricky to get to the back of the screen where the end of the ribbon cable is..

Tiny Monitor

Out of frequency means your video card is trying to display a resolution beyond the capability of you monitor. Typically it is really a combination of too high a resolution and too many colors. Typically a 19? CRT will be set to display at a screen resolution of 1024 x 1024 with the color quality at 32 bit or *true* color. Personal preferences differ and you can set it lower or higher, depending on the capabilities of the monitor. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.

Monitor colors "pulse"

What video card do you have?? Some older video cards don't display very well at higher resolutions... You may want to get the latest video card drivers which may help the problem.

You can find out what card by opening display settings and going to the screen that shows the 1280x1024 resolution.

Let us know how it goes
