The overlay that is underneath the keyboard is bad and since there is no parts for keyboards, it would have to be replaced.

My keyboard typing multiple letters

Keyboards on Windows computers can repeat letters when key press sensitivity is too high. This problem can be rectified by adjusting your keyboard\'s repeat frequency. Once this is lowered, key presses will occur slower and you will not have the letters repeated instantly.

Click"Start," then "Control Panel." Click "Hardware and Sound," followed by "Keyboard." Move the "Repeat delay" slider further to the left below the "Character repeat" option. The further left the slider moves, the longer the delay will be before a character repeats.
If fails

Gather your supplies. There are commercial kits available, but a can of compressed air, a lint-free cloth or wipes, mild dishwashing liquid, and a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush are all you really need for a basic cleaning. After turning off your computer and unplugging your keyboard, gently shake the keyboard upside down over some newspaper to dislodge loose crumbs and particles. Use the can of compressed air to blow a stream of air between the keys. Repeat Step 2. Dampen a lint-free cloth with a diluted solution of dishwashing liquid and water to wipe down the keys. Use the vacuum cleaner brush attachment to suck away any remaining dirt or debris. If you have a membrane-type keyboard (it doesn\'t have a spring under each key) and the keys are truly grungy, you can remove the keys with a small screwdriver and use cotton swabs and 90% isopropyl alcohol to get it sparkling clean
If you are still feeling industrious, next you can tackle cleaning your mouse Of course, if cleaning your keyboard seems a truly undesirable task, you can always buy one for around $20.

Hope this helps.

Optical wireless mouse HP worked the first time used but has not functioned since. Have changed battery but there is no movement.

I had faced the same issue, it has nothing to do with a battery. Please refer to the The mouse or keyboard does not work at all at the website http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00006821&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN#N56 and the same should resolve the issue - follow the instructions in details.

My upper case S KEY WILLL only work if I have cap locks on. can you help me? ' Im using the MX5500 keyboard. thank you. Greg

Have you tried cleaning the keyboard, especially blowing it out with compressed air. Have you tried to use both shift button to see whether or not the problem is isolated to one shift button or both.Have you tried other letter with the same shift button that the letter "s" is having problems with. If this is islolated to just the letter "s" with the shift buttons then more than likely you will just have to use caps lock or buy another keyboard.

When I type the letter "C", it prints ZXCV on the screen

It sounds like the electronic circuit of the keyboard may be failing but to be sure it isn't something simple like a small amount of fluid getting under the keys and acting like a wire to conduct the signal from one set of letters to another. I would remove the keyboard and using compressed air, clean the keyboard with short bursts. The take a Q-tip and alcholhol and run the q-tip under each key to clear away fluid, dirt and debris. If this fails, then I would recomment keyboard replacement.

Hp wireless keyboard not working

These keyboards only seem to work with a certain type of battery. I found the best results with a plain ALKALINE battery. I'm specifically using an Energizer, but I would guess most any Alkaline would work.

My original battery went dead after 6 months, and I replaced with a rechargeable Nickel-metal hydride (NiMh). My keyboard started behaving sluggish less than 24 hours later. I thought there was no way it was the battery, because these are the batteries that last forever in a digital camera (when Alkaline's get drained in about 1 hour in a digital camera). I tried ever fix possible, even blaming it on a new wireless router I had put in. I changed the router's wireless channels, removed cordless phones, and about everything else.

Finally I put another set of rechargeable batteries in, and everything worked great for about another 24 hours. I then decided to go back to a plain Alkaline battery, and all has been well for over a week now.

I'm sure that's not the issue for everyone, but maybe it will help some. So many of the batteries today are made for digital devices, and we had to look specifically for the Alkaline, making sure not to get a NiMh or Lithium Ion battery.

Some letters can't be typed

You need to replace the whole keyboard since the 4 letters is not working at all. You cannot change only 4 letter keys from your laptop.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

I have a packard bell 9201 keyboard andsome of the letters and numbers when pressed come up with different numbers and letters is this a easy thing to sort out

THE KEYBOARD NEEDS TO BE TAKEN APART AND CLEANED WITH SOME ALCOHOL AND DRIED WITH A NON LINT TOWEL, SPRAY A CAN OF COMPTRESSED AIR OR IF YOU HAVE AIR COMPRESSER WILL WORK ALSO., SOME FORIENING MATTER OR OIL OR A DRINK OF SOME SORT GOT ON THE CIRCIUT BOARD AAAND WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE KEY YOU GET A DIFFERENT SYMBOL.

FIRST YOU MAY WANT TO UPDATE THE DRIVERS JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.

IF YOU HAVE ONE THAT USES A POWER DEVICE CHECK THE POWER AND REPLACE THE BATTERIES AND RESET THE TO PUT THE DEVICES ON THE FREQUENCY

Letters sometimes won't work

I assume you have a desktop system with a plug in keyboard; if you have a laptop please tell me and I will type up instructions on how to clean the keyboard on laptops.
You might want to try cleaning out the keyboard.
Unplug the keyboard and hold it upside down; shake it gently and allow debris to fall (pressing the keys can help).
I would also either use compressed air or a small computer vacuum on the keyboard.
Let’s see if this working…if not we might need a through cleaning.
