Question about Dell Vostro 200 PC Desktop
My Dell is about 1 year old. I was remote connected to my work PC when I got a blue screen that said it was dumping my physical memory. If it was the first time, to reboot into safe mode, etc. My problem is that when I try to reboot, the Dell screen comes up and freezes. It will not allow me to F2 or F12. I tried putting in the Windows XP disk: nothing. I let it sit over night thinking it needed to clear the cahce or something, but it still locks up at the same spot.
Thanks for any ideas.
From your description you have corrupted the boot files of the machine
Try hitting F8 repeatedly when you power the machine up that should put you into safe mode
If you can get there go for a system restore
If that fails there is a program called ERD Commander which was written by a company called Winternals but is now under Mocrosofts control.
That replaces the normal OS and allows you to do repairs
Make sure that the OS disk you are using is a bootable version not just a collection of files
