SOURCE: Cannot transfer images from my Canon DSLR XTi to my computer

Having same issue as above - I thought it was my cable so I ordered a new one. The camera attempts to 'speak' to the pc - and then the Windows box pops up not recognising the USB installed device....I also uninstalled and reloaded the Canon software (had camera for 18 months and only started this rubbish a month back) - was about to re-laod my entire PC - thankfully I saw it was not only me.

Will send mine in for a Firmware update / service.

SOURCE: EOS Utility does not recoganize Canon Rebel Xti

I believe there are 2 modes of usb transfer that you can pick in the camera. They are set somewhere in the menu in the options. If you go through the menus thoroughly you'll find it. One option is for connecting the camera directly to a printer and the other is for computer transfer (there might also be an Auto setting but I don't remember for sure). Make sure that setting is set for computer transfer. If that doesn't fix your problem, re-install or update EOS Utility / ZoomBrowser.

SOURCE: Canon Rebel XTi not recognized when plugged into usb

Vista is your problem. Solution...buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can send the pics to your photo editing software.

Manuals for the camera and all software supplied is here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=14256

The manual for the camera itself is the last one listed, titled:

Incompatibility between canon EOS XTi and windows 7

Your problem is that Canon have not yet released a Windows 7 driver for your camera.

You might be able to run the software you have if you set Windows 7 to "compatibility mode". This makes your current software believe that it's running on a pc using an earlier version of Windows.

Windows XP wont dowload ALL images from my Canon EOS 400D

Your canon must be making multiple folders on the card and the computer is only reading the first one. Use a card reader to download your pictures.

Unable to download pictures?

You should get a card reader and use that instead, because it's much quicker to download. However, also look at Canon's website, for newer versions of the software.

Can't download pictures from canon rebel xti to zoombrowser

You can copy the photos to a temp directory, then have zoombrowser import the photos from that temp directory (instead of directly from the camera). This way you can utilize zoombrowser's naming function during the import.
