Do you mean the Husqvarna Designer Topaz 40? If so, first make sure that the unit is in Park. You need the sewing machine on to do this. Select the Park Position on the Embroidery Stitch-Out menu. This screen is accessed after you choose a design and press Go (at the bottom of the touch screen on the left). Then press the release button on the bottom of the left hand side of the embroidery unit.
it sounds like the machine needs to be serviced, you have to check with a sewing machine shop in your area & call them to ask the price for checking or servicing a sewing machine
You need to access the SET menu. Try pushing to the right of this in various spots and hopefully you will be able to get in to this menu. Then you need to keep hitting More until you get to "Colour touch screen adjust" . Select this (by trial and error - keep touching to the right of the square until it is selected). Now get your stylus and carefully press it directly in the centre of the crosshatches - first the one marked "1" - it should turn green - then the one marked "2" - it too will turn green. Your screen is now re-calibrated and you should be able to push the buttons and get the correct selection. If not, I think the machine should be seen by a technician. There may be problems either with the screen or the motherboard.
I have this information from a person who was a Husqvarna Designer expert:
When you just can't get to the menus at
all: Turn the machine off. Then hold down the "Reverse"
and "Pivot" buttons and power it back on. You now
have the setup screen. Touch the "Needle Down"
button and you will see the crosses.
Use a small blunt object
like the metal end of the buttonhole foot (the stylus that
came with the machine would be better ) and touch the centre of
the crosses and each will turn green. Then click on "save".
Go into the Service Menu by pressing and holding the reverse feed button and the sensor foot pivot button while switching the machine on. The display screen will now show Menu 1. On the third row down touch MENU button. The display changes to show Menu 2. At bottom of screen you will now see ON-TIME - SEW-TIME - EMBR-TIME. I would not recommend touching any other buttons or settings. Switch the machine off and restart as normal.
Do you mean that you can't select a stitch except by touching below that stitch instead of on it? If yes, then you need to re-calibrate your screen. It's easy! You should use your stylus for this, but if you have lost it use the blunt end of a machine needle instead.
Go into your SET menu, hit More twice - or until you see "Color Touch Screen Adjust" (it might depend on what version machine software you have loaded just which screen it is on). Click on this. (Keep touching below and around the button until you get it to respond.) Touch in the CENTER of cross 1 (upper left corner of screen). When the cross changes from black to green, the point is set. Do the same with cross 2 (lower right). Done!
Just be sure to touch ONLY THE CROSSES on that screen, except for OK when you are done.
What model machine are we talking about here? If it is a Designer 1, Reverse doesn't show up on the screen. You need to hit the Reverse button twice in succession, the button stays lit up, and the machine should sew in reverse until you hit Reverse again or change stitch.
When a reverse arrow shows on the screen, it is usually when a programmable stitch is selected and you need to hit Reverse to complete the programmed task.
Get back with more detail on your machine and the problem, and maybe I can offer some more specific help. Pamsquilt
Turn on your machine. The SET tab is the fifth from the left (or second from the right). Touch that. You now need to touch the More button, which is on the bottom row and is the button on the left hand side (there are two buttons at the bottom - More and OK). On the next page that comes up, the LANGUAGE select button is the single orange button at the bottom of the list. The two buttons at the very bottom are once again More and OK, so go above them to the single orange button. Each time you press this, the language changes. There are quite a lot to scroll through, but keep pushing it until English comes up again. That should fix your machine for you. No suggestions on how to fix your husband, though! Pamsquilt
