How I can transfer my files from a Acterna 5100E OTDR to my laptop? It only has a standard internal flash drive and 9 pin output. I have the original software.

This devices interface is extremely old technology the 9 pin connector is most likely a rs232 serial interface . If your laptop has a 9 pin rs232 interface you may need a DTE to DCE adapter .
if you do not have this old rs232 port on your laptop I think this device a usb to null modem rs232 DB9 Serial DCS Adapter Cable with FTDI.

from my reading of the manual a null modem may be needed

My computer that has PSW2.0 crashed. It had Windows XP. I have a new HP computer with Windows 7. What do I have to do to make it work on my new computer?

From Singerco.com FAQs: Q. My computer only has USB ports. Can you recommend a Serial (nine pin) to USB converter cable that will work with the Professional Sew Ware™ 2.00a? A. We have found that the PSW works best on newer computers when the USB serial adapter cable has not only compatible drivers for the Windows operating system but also a FTDI chip. We have found this FTDI chip in the cable which is listed below:
CUSB-232A available from Computerplug.com and Cablesalesusa.com.
Any USB to serial adapter with an FTDI chip will work. These cables will work for Windows XP, VISTA, and 7.

Zebra 105SE 25 pin serial cable

error can be on the pc.side or the printer's:

check

- if in windows the LPT ports are addressed properly (if u got a many usb ports, then windows adresses these first and skips the older lpt's- same applies when using an external usb-hub/splitter!)

- that there are no dma or irq conflicts
(see device manager)
- if the right driver is installed, if it suits the windows version u are using/has been written for it

- doublecheck printer against another printer
on your pc using same port

- and/or try to connect it to another pc

so u make sure on which side the error ocurs!

least: check the cable itself

Problem with the Box digital reciever

This guide is intended for use with the Eurovox but the equipmentrequired is the same for flashing other boxes. The only differenceswill be with the relevant box firmware and its loader software.
WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Null Modem Cable ( available from here )
2. Serial to USB Adaptor ( available from here

The above adaptor assumes that you want to use a laptop to do thejob; as most recent laptops do not have a serial port, you mustpurchase the adaptor.

The Serial to USB adaptor will come with a drivers disk. So installthis before we go any further and follow on screen instructions.

Connect the adaptor to the USB port on the laptop. Connect one end ofthe the Null Modem cable to the Adaptor and the other to the serialport on the Eurovox.

Provided you have downloaded the correct version, proceed:

The file will have to be extracted. Use winzip or winrar for this procedure ( Very easy )

Ensure the Box is powered on. You can leave connected to the TV if you choose.

If you have your channels set up in Favourites we will back them upbefore flashing, although in some instances, the new update will notaffect stored channels if your firmware is not too dated.

Anyway, go to the file which you extracted and start the application. (It will be named UFL_MaxV_Kuro V........ ) Your first action will be toupload channel data. Select a name and a location for the file and saveit. It is at this point you will be alerted if the box has connectedwith the PC. If it has not, do the following:

Go to Desktop / Right click" My Computer" / Select Properties /Hardware / Device Manager / Ports & Com Ports. Now select the nextoption to appear , in my case it's prolific serial to com port. Nowselect Port settings / Advanced / Change com port to 1,2,3 or 4 / OK /Exit .

Go back to the loader screen and you should now be able to communicate with the box.

Following channel data backup, you must now download the firmware tothe box. Again, it is indicated on the screen and very easy to do. Onceinitiated, the box will display DNLD message and a progress bar willappear on the laptop screen. Allow to complete fully ! Do not disconnectuntil UPDATE SUCCESSFUL message appears on the screen. This can, insome cases, be 30seconds after 100% has been reached on the progressbar.

Finally, download your channel data and the operation is complete.

Now:
factory reset,
re scan,
go into the menu where you click on the set default key
switch on Emu
exit 3 times
wait for code to update
needs to be done after you have applied the fix,
And if that doesn't work put on Sky or Setanta orParamount+1 for a second, certain channels kickstart the process.

Hope this helps
