My wife is unable to access the internet. She uses the same router as myself and I don't have a problem. Signal strength is shown as excellent, it shows the message obtaining IP address then shows connection to WLAN failed. Can someone help please?

Re: Cannot access internet, Acer Aspire 5315
Try this. go to firewall. click on exception, and then click "secure socket tunneling" this should solve the problem. If it did not work the first time unclick it again. re start computer, and re do the exception thing.

it shouldn't be asking for an ISP as most dsl modems even though they are PPPOE by nature, DSL providers have removed the necessity to add all the information to the configuration. I recommend removing all connections already present in the machine, not the adapters or anything physical just remove all known connections. don't run any kind of internet set up wizard because you don't need it. just connect the device to the router/modem. if you connect directly to the modem you'll need to reset it after connecting the new machine. If internet explorer/firefox/chrome are being used make sure you double check proxy settings and turn them off. this is listed under tools in the browsers. I would also make sure both the wireless and wired connections have been set up to 'automatically receive an IP (dhcp) and that no info has been pre-added to the configuration. set everything to be automatic and reset your modem and you should be good to go.
How are you connecting? Thru a wireless router at home? You may need to upgrade the firmware on the router or just change it to a different channel. You will need to get into the routers control panel to do this.
Hi the router has not picked up your IP address.follow this Turn off your wireless router and internet connection and your laptop aswell for 30secs .Then first turn on your internet (if seperate from the router) if not switch on the wireless router/internet hub and wait untill the lights stop flashing then switch on your laptop and that should work.
Try to check in your wife's computer the network connection make sure that the LAN connection is not disabled and has a DHCP configuration, on the TCP/IP settings choose obtain IP address automatically, and also make sure you have the same workgroup name.
