Question about Dell Inspiron B120 Notebook

Can this be fixed??

We apoligize for the inconvienience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Start Windows Normally

Use the up and down arrow keys to move thet highlight to your choice.

I clicked on everyone of those things and nothing happened.
I restarted it and nothing happened.

What should I do about this?

You need a live windows cd. This will help you boot from the cd drive. You can get it free at www.ubcd4window.com good luck. You will need another computer of course to download the sofware, bare in mind it does take a long time to download. I once downloaded this software, and took me several hours. Good luck

If you added any exta hardware means kindly remove it and boot the computer
Then you try boot by selecting the option of Boot using last known good configuration.
If the boot is successful then you can boot later booting without any problem.

If boot is not successful and this problem is happened after installing any software or driver software means boot in safe mode by pressing f8 key and uninstall it

Computer starts but do not start with xp

You should try starting in safemode, if no menu at start, just press F8 after the bios.
perhaps after a restart in safe mode it should have fixed itself, if you add some hardware try to remove it to try,

Black screen comes up "windows did not start successfully...." choose from safe mode, safe mode with networking etc Last known Configuration or Start Windows Normally. Computer then tries to...

You should opt Safe Mode:
  • On the black screen just navigate throug up and down arrow keys.
  • Goto Safe Mode and press enter.
  • It will boot your system in safe mode.
If the boot is success full:
  • try to remember any software or hardware you recently installed/change. Then remove/uninstall that software/hardware. Also remove some device driver like Video/Audio driver and make re-start. and try to normal boot. If success then install your audio/video.
If no success then I think its time to re-install your windows.
Please post your feed-back.
