Are you using a DVI cable to connect the monitor to the computer? Try changing the monitor setting to analog if not using a DVI cable.

Most of these settings are done through a software panel - check this site for your specific ASUS monitor : http://www.service.asus.com/#!downloads/c1wax

You can use any Toshiba or Asus laptop adapter (19V 3.42A ) for this monitor.

LCD monitor? More than 2 years old?
If yes, then read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). Have you tried updating your mobo/chipset drivers?

The native resolution is 1440 x 900 and that will give you the best picture quality.

You can use the other lower resolutions, but you will not get as sharp of a picture.

Make sure you install the ASUS driver, or you won't get the optimal resolution.

Download the correct driver for the VW193T monitor. Match your windows version.

change your resolution in display properties.
