You didn't give any specifics. Possibly it is just broken due to a loose cable to the keyboard (which you could look inside and check) or a burned out semiconductor (harder to check).

If it is a MIDI keyboard, usually symptoms like this are due to a "MIDI Channel ID" problem. It is sending the keyboard on one MIDI channel and whatever is producing the sound is listening on another. For this sort of thing, you can substitute devices to narrow down the problem or try to reset everything, removing all the batteries, if any, and checking the manuals or website for reset instructions. Of course, you may lose stored settings that way.

QS8 keyboard. Why is volume in organ mode much louder than piano mode when I switch between modes without touching volume slide?

On organ mode, in general, almost all brands of the modern keyboard, velocity setting is not enabled. Setting velocity is used to determine how much the level of the sound that follows how strongly you press the keys. It is really just to imitate the sound of vintage organs, which in the past, electronic organ technologi not use the velocity on the keys. So, how strong / slow we press the keys, the sound level will remain the same.
At the Piano mode, modern keyboard using setting velocity. This also to imitate an acoustic piano, which, if we press the keys slowly, the sound level will be slow as well, and vice versa.
So, in your case,at the same volume slider, try to play on the organ modes, note level. Moving to the piano mode and press the keys securely powered (full power). Then the sound level should be equal to the organ mode.
On modern keyboards, also included organ sound that added velocity setting. Usually found on the user bank.

Yamaha psr 295

Hi, This is probably due to worn rubber contacts. The sound is switched by pressing a key which in turns press a carbon contact on the PCB under the key. In time these wear out and need to be replaced.

Firstly open up the keyboard and locate the rubber contacts, check to see if each one is seated squarely, if they are not seat straight then this can create the problem you mention.

If all are OK then you will need to replace the strip which is causing a problem.

Casio keyboard lit up, no sound, no responses

Unplug for several minutes and try again.

If that doesn't work, look up the "factory reset" procedure for your particular model via google and follow that procedure. It usually involves holding certain buttons down before and during power up.

M-audio ProKeys 88sx -- all led lights flash, no sound Upon turning the keyboard on, all led lights on the top panel flash. No sound from the keyboard. Is there a re-set button or something?

I have two of these. First thing check your power adapter for output. Just because LED's are on doesn't mean there is correct voltage... There is no reset button... Cycling power serves to reset it.

ALSO check the power input connector... sometimes those get intermittent and break connection due to vibration and initial current surge when turning on.
