If it's turning then switchit off.
Clean the fan blades and dry them
lubricate the fan motor bearings
Otherwise you will have to buy a new one - sorry

Model 28870-420 ceiling fan. Why don't lights respond to remote or pull switch and motor just hums?

Your fan may have to be "reset" to restore light response. Turn off power at the source, not at the fan. Wait for a few minutes while you remove remote batteries and press all buttons to eliminate a "stuck key" problem. Reinstall batteries, then turn on power again. Try using the remote to turn on lights. If no luck, the remote may need new batteries or the receiver could be defective.

The motor hum could be caused by a broken capacitor connection or defective capacitor at the motor.

You don't say whether your turtable is grounded by a separate wire but in some cases grounding is necessary to eliminate hum.

Humming noise. Seems to be coming from the fan.

Your freezer humming noise is likely coming from either the fan motor or the ice maker.

There is a humming noise coming from fan no matter what speed it is on. I have run the fan for hours and still humming

The key to a quiet fan is to isolate the motor vibration from all other parts. This occurs, in the majority of fans, in three places: between the motor and the blade brackets, between the blade brackets and the blades, and between the downrod/motor flange and the mounting bracket. Some fans also have vibration-isolating material between the mounting bracket and the ceiling. If your fan makes a noticable humming noise, inspect it for the above mentioned types of vibration-isolating material. With the exception of the rubber flywheel, if your fan is lacking any of the above, they are easy to add and should solve the majority of humming problems. You can always add additional material as rubber washers and spacers are readily available.

38CKC036 Air Conditioner: outside fan will not come on makes a humming noise...

If the humming is your compressor running (feel the large copper line going into the unit, it should feel cold aftter a few minutes of run time) then the fan motor or the capacitor or both need to be replaced, check for voltage to the fan motor when the unit is "humming" if it has voltage and will not start replace the fan motor and the capacitor. hope this helps.

Humming noise

If you are using a dimmer switch to operate the fan instead of a fan speed controller, that is the cause of the humming. If you turn down the speed to the lowest setting and the hum gets louder, then your controller needs to be replaced.

Tv makes humming noise when on. how can I eliminate or reduce the nose?

Some of the larger TV's are DISH ready, meaning that they have the tuner inside for SAT TV. The SAT tuners often have an internal fan that makes a humming noise. If it sounds like something other than that, you might have a bad component in your sound circuit that allows 60 HZ hum through the speakers.

If it is a rear projection LCG TV it has a fan in it to cool the bulb. You will hear the fan if you listen closely. It usually cannot be heard over the volume.

The fluorescent bulb and electronics inside make humming sound naturally. Kinda like when you turn on a lamp, and some lamps make a low humming sound.
