Question about Iomega (33600) 160 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive

1 Answer

Iomega 160 gb External

I have had this hard drive for about 3 years, hasnt shown me any problems until now. Every time I Boot up the hard drive, it goes directly to the infamous windows blue screen then shuts down. That happens every single time. Any advice ?

Re: Iomega 160 gb External

Since this is an external drive, I assume you can try connecting it to a different computer? Does is it still crash if you do that?

Try to acces HD with paragon hard disk manager resque disk (you must boot from this cd). You have an option there to copy files. Backup all your files if you see them and format hard drive then copy all your data back. It works several times for me.

Iomega HDD 160 GB

If it is connected to the mains ,make sure it's correctly connected.
Also try another USB port on the computer.
If it used to switch on before or even make sounds to show that it was working and now it doesnt then it's either a problem with the harddrive case or the drive itself.
To retrieve the information on it(if the problem is infact the case) then you will need to open the case and remove the harddrive from it and then buy an external USB case for it ,or if you are technically good with computers attach it internally to the computer.
Good Luck

Your USB port does not have enough power to support the drive. You will need to use an external power source of try a firewire cable if the drive has that option.
