. Download and install the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your Windows PC. Get it from:
https://www.blackberry.com/Download...B93E4F3BB068C22
I'm using version Version 4.6 and I recommend you do the same although I believe any version 4.1 or greater will work.

2.
Download and install BlackBerry OS 4.1.0.534 on your Windows PC from:https://www.blackberry.com/Software...lient=biTZdMddN
This is a critical step that people tend to skip. You must have the OS installed on your PC in order for the Desktop Manager to work correctly and be able to reinstall the browser.

3. Download the service books
from here:
http://wapreview.com/download/MMS_WiFiBrowser.zip
Unzip the contained file, MMS_WiFiBrowser.ipd. into a folder where you will be able to find it

4. Plug in your phone to a USB port and start the BlackBerryDesktop Manager. If it says it needs to upgrade the phone's OS, let it.

If it doesn't say it needs to update go into Application Loader > Add Remove Applications. Again, if it says it needs to upgrade the phone's OS, let it.

The upgrade can take up to an hour so don't panic if it seems hung, just let it finish.

4. On you BlackBerry, close all open apps and delete the Browser (even if you don't see a browser in the menu!) by going to Options>Advanced Options>Applications>Browser, press the scroll wheel and choose delete, confirm the deletion and the option to reboot your phone now.

5. When the phone restarts, go to Options -> Advanced Options ->
Service Books hold Alt and hit {A/S}{A/S}{B/N}{E/R}{B/N} (for full QWERTY phones it's Alt + {S}{B}{E}{B}).
A message reading "Legacy SB Restore Enabled" will appear if you did this correctly.

6. Connect your phone to the PC again. In Desktop Manager choose "Backup and Restore" , then "Restore", then browse to and select the MMS_WiFiBrowser.ipd file that you downloaded in step 3.

7. After installing the
service books, click Main Menu, then Application Loader > Add / Remove Applications. Check the empty boxes next to the Browser, JavaScript and Help to reinstall them.

8. After the phone restarts you should have a working HotSpot Browser icon and there should be a working MMS option for each entry in your address book and a Compose MMS option in the Messages app.

Gmail, Opera Mini and many other third party data aware apps will also work with this set up.

BlackBerry Mail and the IM apps from BlackBerry will still not work.

I followed these instructions and now I have "compose MMS" options in the messages and in my contacts but it doesnt work -- it says "failed" to send and i am sending texts to my number from other phones and not getting them either -- however; everything else works fine on the phone and if i pop the sim in an actual boost phone i get all the texts just fine .. what to do?

Trying to convert,if possible, nextel blackberry 8530i to boostmobile

watch this video

Boost Mobile has the cheapest (and slowest) data service around, and the Nextel Branded BlackBerry is the only smart phone that works with Boost's iDEN service.

The old 7520 and 7100i BlackBerry's can be purchased for around 50 dollars, and are very usable smart phones.

The newer BlackBerry 8350i is one of the best blackberry smartphones available. However on Nextel it costs more then 120 dollars a month for unlimited everything and on Boost mobile you can get unlimited service for $50 a month.

The difference however is that Boost mobile does not offer a Blackberry Data Plan and Nextel does. So if you want to browse the web, send emails, and be able to download apps, you have to convert your Nextel Blackberry to Boost Mobile.

The email works a little differently in that you can set up your yahoo or aol mail to forward to your Blackberry by using the email address

yournumber@myboostmobile.com as the forward to email address.

What are the differences of the Nextel Blackberry models?

Besides the obvious difference which is the design of the phone and the applications and memory available, the 8350i runs BlackBerry OS version 4.6 whereas the 7520 and 7100i run version 4.1. The older OS does not support as many apps and features.

To sum it up Boost Mobile Phones aren't good and Blackberry's are. It's really that simple.

Does Boost support the BlackBerry?

Not officially. Boost sells their Starter kit to "give new life to a previously used Boost or Nextel phone", but they make no specific mention of its compatibility with the BlackBerry. Using a BlackBerry on Boost is consistent with their terms and conditions, but you won't get any help from Boost for configuring your BlackBerry.

Which features work?

Voice service and basic data service work.

3rd-party apps work, including apps for web browsing, email, GPS, and instant messaging.

Over-the-air installation of apps using the BlackBerry Browser will work if youfollow the how-to.

Text messaging will work if you follow the how-to.

Apps can also be installed using the Desktop Manager software on your PC.

Which Boost plans included data service?

All Boost plans include basic data service
