Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32HS510 32" TV
The TV turns on for about 3 sec. and then turns back off. The Stand-By LED blinks 6 times pauses, blinks 6 times pauses.....I called Sony Tech. Support, and the technician told me the code indicates a over-voltage problem. I suspect a power supply problem. The tech. suggested I contact an authorized Sony repair TV repairman. The TV is 4 yrs. old, out of warranty!
I was an electronic technician, and now a out-of-work Electrical Engineer. Like everyone else money is tight! Please let me know if you have a suggestion, other than calling a TV repairman.
To be sure the 120 volt input was not dropping during start-up, I put a digital voltmeter in the duplex receptacle. The voltage did not vary from 122 volts.
Its a problem with the capacitors on the main board. If you open it up you will notice that 1 or maybe two of them have puffed at the tops. Sony will fix this for you for about 200 buxs or if your able to, pull the capacitors yourself and take them to radioshack. You might spend 15 bux tops.
