Dynex DX-840 has static "humming" or "ticking" on Ventrilo

I have a Dynex X840 USB mono head set. I use to with ventrilo on my Mac. When speaking to others, sometimes it is clear and crisp, but most of the time it sounds like there is a fan. I've had it described as a Hum or a ticking at times. I've also had people say they think I have a fan blowing on my mic.

No,I do not have a van or a/c on anywhere near me. I have reloaded ventrilo to see if that works, and it doesn't make a difference.

I know it is not a problem with the head set specifically because I use the same headset on my laptop PC for work to do audio recordings and I have never had one bit of distortion when doing that.

The other thing I notice is that when the headset is plugged into my mac the Blue light on the Dynex is on all the time, but the moment I open ventrilo the blue light begins blinking at a rate of approx 6 blinks/second.

The Mac is current on all my updates, but in Ventrilo it shows the head set as an "unknown USB device". I have been unsuccessfult o find any supplemental drivers for the headset for a Mac (normally you never would need one.)

I tried to be as thorough so I don't get the standard "reload ventrilo" or check to see if the mic works etc etc etc.

SOURCE: Ventrilo static weird occurance

First, make sure your mike/headphones are plugged in all the way to the correct jack port.

Then, re-download and install vent.

Also, go to "setup" in vent, then make sure the inbound and outbound are either set higher or lower than the default.

Most of the time this is a driver related problem. Did you check the device manager to see if the audio device has problems? Try updating the driver for it if you can find a newer driver.
Of course always try a virus scan and spyware scan, as some viruses cause BSOD errors are well.

You can check the event viewer for details, and see if that helps you further. Analyzing the details of the the blue screen error helps to isolate the real cause.

try on another pc in sound recorder if working there then the headset is not the problem. try uninstalling the sound card and rebooting the pc.
may correct the issue.

How do u setup bluetooth


Are you asking in general or for the DX-840? From the listings that I have found the DX-840 is a USB headset and does not support Bluetooth.

If you are running Vista, make sure that you set your mic as the default. Then check on vent settings and make sure that your output setting are set for your head set. You can then test your headset inside of the settings tab.

In ventrilo, you have to go into the settings and set the recording device to your headset. By default, vetrilo is set to use the system default recording device.

Do you have Window's Vista...I'm not sure if it works the same way, but I had the same scenario and I simply went to audio manager in my toolbar (the speaker looking thing making sound waves) and made all of the input jacks apart from each other. Go to Device Advanced Settings and choose Separated input jacks.
Sound Manager > Advanced Device Settings > Separate all Input jacks as Independent Devices
