Question about Marantz SR-5200 Receiver

1 Answer

Only the main speakers are functioning....Hello, I m from India and I have a strange problem with my Marantz SR5200 which is sparingly used...It is perfectly working in the stereo mode whereas in others; only the front speakers are functioning while the other channels remain dead. In DTS and 6.1ch Surr mode the "PCM" indicator flashes and the signal is not locked and so I don't hear any output. I tried the test tones and it behaves similar only the front left and front right are responding while the rest are dead....All this happens when I connect through the digital inputs.... Now, when I use the analog input there is no output until I switch to source direct mode. Now, when I apply the 7ch Input I get to hear from all the speakers.... Please suggest a remedy for this problem.... I'll be very grateful if someone could provide me with a user manual as I have misplaced my copy of it... Thank you, Ajay.

Connecting Speakers to Marantz NR1402

You can use banana plugs to connect speakers to the speaker post. Connect the wire to the banana plug then insert the banana plug in the speaker post.

If you serch in google with the name speaker banana plug then you will get picture of different types.

You can buy this banana plugs in any nearby electronic spare part shop. They all stock this item. Normally comes in pair ( red, black)

Marantz sr8001: standby light blinks rapidly,

Hello there Ed.

For anyone that has ever had such an issue with a MARANTZ SR series (6001. 7001. 7002. 8001...etc...) issue a question and I do HAVE the answer.

I could be just anything, or just the low quality binding posts used by MARANTZ for that.

Please describe to me in details how you've connected your speaker wires at the back, and give me description when and how did this problem came up.

Kind regards

Receiver Sr5200 shut down in 5.1 mode

chances are you have the volume too loud and the speaker wires are crossed.
all speaker wires need to be with the positive on the right and negative on the left if you have them anywhichway than it will work on low volume and not a very good sound.
look closely at the wires and they should have a red or so color on one side or the wire jacket itself will have a round side and a flat side

No sound out of speakers (Marantz SR5200 receiver)

sounds like you might need to open it up and check the speaker wires that you plug your speakers up to it might be lose or something else like that cause it happened to me before and that was it.

Marantz SR5200 receiver works only with remote not manually

Check for a stuck/jammed switch, press each switch if one doesn't make a normal click sound or it doesn't move at all that's your problem.
If that's not it check the owners manual for how to reset the receiver (not all manuals will tell you how to reset it) Another way to reset it is to short the memory cap, but that is better left to a tech.

If you try and unplug it at least 12 to 24 hours and it does the same thing, then its time to take it in to the shop.
