I installed a new lexmark Z645 in my HP Compaqnc6120 llaptop. While printing its giving message 'Communication Not Available- the printer cannot communicate with the printer'. i have disconnected and reconnected the USB cable, power cable, disabled firewall and restarted laptop. not working. pls help.

I also have a Z645 and have had it now for almost a year...love it's performance but now all of a sudden it only prints certain things...duh! I don't know if any of you that have problems went to the sdolution center for Lexmark but on there ...there an upgrade to your printer, which is not is a section that says you MAY need to install an upgrade which sometimes corrects the problem UNLESS of course you do as I do with my "other" lexmark and they tell you that there no longer is any updates so in that case you are S.O.L....basically you need to buy a new printer......I am gonna call tech support tomorrow for my problem but getting the upgrade MAY help you others....good luck!

no, a missing black cartridge is not the problem. If other USB devices (do you have a usb mouse or camera) work on your HP, you must try the printer on another PC to test the printer is functional. Many outlet stores like Best Buy will allow you to bring in your printer to test it communicating.
