You need to reinstall the programs, not just transfer them. Using a web browser will not be a problem as the web age remains the same, but using a mail program, you need to change the internal settings to what they were before.

SOURCE: File transfer from dead pc to another pc ?

It doesn't sound "kaput" it sounds like there's a graphics card issue or something. If you're just worried about the files you could take the hard drive out of the "kaput" computer and install it into the new pc. Just make sure to set it as a slave (not master) on the jumper ports on the back, or it'll fight to become the dominant hard drive to boot off of.

You might want to get a second opinion on that old pc (depending on who told you in the first place). If everything sounds normal, it's just not responding it could be anything really. It could be as simple as getting a new graphics card. =\

In any case the hard drive should still be fine. If you don't like the idea of taking apart your new pc, you could install the hard drive in another old pc (a friends or whatever) and take the files you want from there, put them on a removable device or burn them to a CD, then put them on your new computer.

Hope this helped!

SOURCE: CANT GET WIRELESS MOUSE TO WORK

Try changing with a new set of batteries. also try to reset the connection of the wireless mouse and keyboard. you can locate a connect button on both the reciever and wireless keyboard. press both of them together and release them. this would reset the connection. try doing the same for reciever and wireless mouse connect buttons. this should work. also check for any possible alignment issues.

SOURCE: I am trying to transfer

You cant transfer files from your old computer with Win 95 Using windows easy transfer which is a file transfer software in vista . If you want to transfer files then you have to copy them on a cd or dvd then paste them to your new computer . It will take a lot of time . Call a computer expert and tell him that you want to transfer the file from your old computer . He will do that easily .

Just got new HP laptop and i'd like to transfer photo's and some files from my old HP desk top computer. What do I need to do this?

If the old computer still works, see the following. Otherwise look for the * for a solution further below. If the old desktop has Windows XP SP3 or newer, you can use the easy transfer wizard. It is included in Windows 7.

If the old desktop has a network connection, you can use an ethernet switch to create a network to share files. Once both computers recognize the switch, set up a network. If you have Windows 7 on one computer and do not have it on the other, do not use the Homegroup network. This may come up automatically; otherwise, use the Network Control Panel and add a network. Start the Easy Transfer Wizard and set this computer as the new computer. There may be an option to get the Transfer Wizard to copy and install to the old computer. Note the code for the Easy Transfer Wizard. Then install the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard on the old computer and launch it. Set this computer as the old computer. Use the code given in on the first computer to synch the transfer. Go through the settings to select the files to transfer and then start the transfer. Prepare to wait a while for the transfer.

If you can't use the Easy Transfer Wizard, set the hard drive on one computer to Share (click Computer (My Computer) and right click on the hard drive and select Properties. Then choose the Sharing tab. Enable Sharing by clicking the Share button.) On the other computer, map to a network drive and locate the Shared drive. Drag and drop the files to the new computer.

If you already have a network connection to a cable or DSL router, you will be asked about "New network found" and to define it. Make sure to make it the home network on both computers. (If you were directly connected to a cable or DSL modem, then you will again get this question. Note the switch will not let your computers talk to the outside network without a router though.)

(Alternatively, use a cross-over ethernet cable with the direct cable networking option.)

Other options: use the Microsoft Easy Transfer Wizard to put the photos and files on a DVD, external hard drive or flash drive with sufficient capacity. You may need to download and install this program to the old computer. For the optical drive option, you need a DVD-RW drive on the desktop and a DVD reader (minimum) on the laptop. (You can use an external optical drive, if you have one.) Another option is a USB file transfer device. Some of these come with the Easy Transfer Wizard on their install disc.

*If the old computer will not turn on, take the hard drive out of the computer and use a USB to IDE/SATA adapter. Follow the directions for the device and attach it to a USB port on the laptop. See if the drive mounts (is listed when you open the Computer File Explorer). Then drag and drop the files from one drive to another.

Note you may need to change the owner of the files on the new computer. (This doesn't apply with the Easy Transfer Wizard if the old user is made equivalent to the new user in the setup of the wizard.) To change the owner, right click on the file in the File Explorer and choose the Security tab. Select the Advanced settings.

I hope this helps.

You need to have the data disk or a USB mass storage, copy the files of your laptop in the disk or mass storage device and then connect it with your computer and again copy and paste the files in your desktop computer. If you can't do this then get a cross cable and connect both the computers with this, you will be able to transfer the files directly to your desktop computer from your laptop.

I have a hp a610n and i had the hard drive replaced and now im tring to update the drivers and i am unable to do so.

Hello,

I am not sure how the hard drive was replaced but you should be able to go to HP support, enter your pc model and download the drivers for your system from there. That's the easy way. You can also transfer directly from the old hdd to the new one. (assuming the old one still function) This can be time consuming and if you have any corriupt files, they will be transfered to the new drive as well.

Good Luck
