That's what can happen with super cheap no-name (no quality control) batteries. Frequently batteries of this type are not even alkaline at all but old fashioned zinc carbon batteries.
NexxTech claim to offer "Affordable Quality products", so perhaps their buyers are unaware that their suppliers are letting standards slip. I'm sure that if you contact them they'll try to help.

As long as you do not use the powerpack with only one head plugged into it you should be fine. When you plug in a head to the novatron the power pack power is divide between the heads. so 1500 WS divided by three heads is 500WS per head. Only if you find they are contributing to the expose by giving you a warm or amber cast to the backgrounds especially or on the subject.
