Question about KitchenAid KHMC107BT Convection/Microwave Oven

3 Answers

KitchenAid KHMC107YWH. Turntable became erratic -- turning with door open, stopped with door closed and turning with cooking in convection and microwave modes. Then, ceasing to operate entirely. Possible defective micro switch and/or related fuse -- three microswitches. I have "tech sheet", but no disassembly instructions to get at innards, though some years ago I did replace the main fuze but cannot remember that procedure. In addition to "technical assistance" as to problem, I also need access to (printout) of tech manual to disassemble unit.

The reply was non-responsive. Note, I need to get at the innards, like, how would I replace the fuse associated with one of the three micro switch interlocks.
Therefore, if you don't have any "expert" to tell how to get at the innards, step by step, I have the schematic and pictorial diagrams, the service is not as advertised and I woulds cancel and demand a full refund.

    AGAIN NON-RESPONSIVE.
The service manual offered is for a stand mixer, not for the microwave/convection oven relating to this question.
Please kindly refund my money and cancel my account.

Microwave ovens have a plastic piece that the tray sits on and it turns the tray, sometimes after time they slowly start to come off or get stuck. The plastic part that connects the drive motor to the turntable could be cracked or loosening so the motor's plastic piece is probably just spinning and catching on the turntable, thats why the turntable can sometimes turn or stop, you could remove this plastic part and repair or replace, but I don't suggest doing this your self if you not electrically minded they can hold alot of electrical charge from the turntable rotating motor even when it has been unplugged, I suggest let it sit for a day unplugged so the charge that its holding in its capacitors is completely gone and drained before you get your hands in there.

I do not have a service manual since it is not a free PDF, but looking at a like model, this is clearly a control board issue

Turntable will not rotate and food will not heat up.

If it is not cooking and the turntable will not turn, this sounds like the secondary interlock switch is bad. Almost always this failure is caused by opening the door when it is in a cook cycle. Pushing the stop button before you open the door will prevent this in the future..

It sounds like you may have a shorted cook relay on the control circuit board which can be repaired simply and inexpensively.

A YouTube video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes, is here.

Turntable turns when door opened

This is usually caused by a defective door switch, or it may be out of aligment. Since there are a few of them a digital meter is required to troubleshoot the problem area. If you have the equipment I well describe how to test them.

When I shut door, the light stays on and it

I would suspect that the door sensing switch (top door switch) is open inside or is disconnected. This will cause it to seem like the door is open, but it will not cook.

It may also have an intermittently bad secondary interlock switch (bottom switch). If this were the case, it would not microwave or cook in convection mode, but the turntable would fail to operate, too.

We have the applicable service manuals for this models and have uploaded them to our site here and here to help you.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

If you need other parts, you can order them by the part number in the service manual from this supplier.

Our microwave/convecton turns itself off after about a minute

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample photo for a typical damper assembly.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

Sounds like a door switch problem or stuck relay contacts on the control PCB. Do the light and fan run too or just the T/T??
