Question about HP OfficeJet 6210 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Every page I print something there are lines down the left side of the page along with remnents of the top line all the way down the page.
What your seeing can be caused by several things, but I'd wager you've got either a leaky cartridge or just smudges on your print head. The print unit is in two parts and both will need to be cleaned thoroughly.
First, prep a work area with lots of newspaper and paper towels. You'll need cotton swabs (don't use cotton balls for this) and isopropyl alcohol.
Second, pull the ink cartridges from the unit (they snap out easily) and very gently clean the bottom of the cartridges with swabs soaked in alcohol until they come away clean. Dry the bottom of the cartridges with clean swabs and set aside on paper (careful, they can still leak).
Third, pull the print head assembly from the unit (most have a locking bar that has to be unlatched) and clean the same way as the cartridges. Make sure you inspect for cracks and/or obvious flaws (grooves or lines that shouldn't be there) that can cause problems.
Once everything is dry, put it all back and run the unit through a deep cleaning cycle and head alignment before doing any test prints.
Note: this type of maintenance is good to do on printers with a heavy work load after every sixth cartridge change, or if the unit has been sitting unused for very extended periods of time (more than a couple of months).
