Question about HP f2105 21" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My monitor when powered up gives me a no input signal for VGA and DVI and then goes into sleep mode after 15 seconds. I plugged in a second monitor and have a no signal message too. Should i replace the video card or has the monitor locked itself out. Please advise....Best Regards Beth.

Hey Beth

Sounds like you are in a bit of trouble!

Based on what you've told me, it looks like it might be a video card fault. However, a few things to check first are..

Make sure the VGA & DVI are secured tightly in to their slots, especially on the monitors as gravity can sometimes be a pain!

Use different cords, rather than the original ones you use. This is to eliminate the the point that the cords may be the issues.

And last to know whether it's the monitor or not.. check and use your monitors on another PC. If they go, then it is a hardware fault in your PC, sometime things can come lose and problems can occure espeically with older PCs as they die out. Much like a older car wears down, so do the parts of a PC.

The suggestion I then give you is to pop it in to a Computer Shop, let me test it for a half hour fee and see what they recommend. Possibly it could let on to getting a new graphics card, for a basic one it's no that costly and could solve your problems easily. Or.. it might in fact be a motherboard fault... It's hard to tell, unless you get hands on with it, and test and elimate the causes.

Well, all I can say is good luck, and hopefully you find the issue. Besides, buying something new is always a good thing, so perhaps it's time you upgraded anyway? =D

I hope I've been able to assist you.

My monitor seems to be stuck in sleep mode

This happens when there is no communication with video card. Check cables, re-seat video card, make sure monitor is set to correct mode. VGA (15pin blue), DVI (white), or HDMI.

HP w2207 no vga input signal, no dvi input signal monitor goes to sleep

There is no signal coming from your PC.
excuse some of the solutions as sounding dumb, but we have to explore all possibilities.

Check the power cable going into the computer
Check the power input disconnect switch on the back of the power supply and make sure it is on
If the pc is plugged into a power bar, make sure it is turned on and the breaker isn't tripped
press power on the PC and make sure the lights are coming on.

now for the solutions that may actually help.

disconnect the power from the PC
if the video is on a card, remove and re-seat the video card
hook the power back up, connect the monitor and try again.

the CMOS on the computer may need to be reset.
I hate totally clearing the CMOS, so what I usually do is remove 1 stick of ram and power up. If the system is alive again, power down, put the RAM back in and power back up.
If that doesn't work, turn the system off, put the CMOS jumper to the CLEAR position for 15 seconds, put it back to the Normal position and then power back up.

Basically, if the monitor works on your friends system but not on yours, the the problem is your system, not the monitor (assuming it isn't working fine til it gets into windows...if that's the problem, you have a driver or configuration problem)

I have a flatron w2253tq and have "analoge power saving "on. I cannot see the desktop

Is the monitor connected to the computer using a VGA plug (a smaller one, with 15 pins in 3 rows), or a DVI plug (wider one, with flat pins in 2 rows)?

From what you write, your monitor is switched to the analog input (VGA). It doesn't sense any signal on that input and hence goes to power down mode.

You need to go to your monitor's on-screen menu and select the digital input - you should see the picture then.

Monitor wont come out of sleep mode

I'm guessing you are using a the VGA input of this monitor (the smaller "D" shaped connector with 15 pins) on the back. If not, and you are using the DVI input (larger white connector), then check your PC video output. I've seen this occur with HP monitors when they accidentally get set to "digital" input. Its easy to set that way (even by mistake), but not as easy to reset to analog (VGA). To do that, you'll need to find someone with a DVI output on their video card. Once you connect to a DVI source, the monitir will come on and stay on. You then need to go into the menues of the monitor, find the setting and change it back to "analog". After you do of course, you won't get an image on your monitor until you reconnect to an "analog" (VGA) source.

Cpu says no input vga signal, then goes to sleep

The no input VGA signal just means that the monitor is not receiving anything from the graphic card on the tower. Is the card a digital (DVI) output card? You'll know by the connector, it's white and slightly wider than a standard VGA connector. If so, perhaps the monitor is set to the wrong input?

If that isn't the case, and the computer is using an on-board or built-in graphics controller, you could try resetting the system's CMOS settings by setting the clear-settings jumper on the system board, or simply remove the plug and CMOS battery for a few minutes. Check the computer's documentation on the exact steps to do this.

Hope this helps!

On my 997sd lcd the screen after about a second goes blk but the power light stays on also stays on on the power cord when unplug and plug back in again stays on for a second then goes blk

It may be going into power save mode or its not getting a signal from your comp.

Check this by using the monitor control menu on the monitor.

Does it give you a message at all?

Also, if you have a VGA video card and its a DVI monitor and you have a converter, you may need to switch it from DIGITAL signal to ANOLOGUE or vise versa depending on your setup.

Analog power save mode

Are you connect via Analog (Blue VGA connection) or DVI (White Digital connection?

If you are connected via DVI, then you have to change the input select button to DVI

If you are Connected VGA, make sure the system doesn't have 2 VGA ports. If it does, connect to the other port.
